Hardwire a portable gps

Has anyone hardwired a portable naviagation unit in a 300? I wanted to do this but im not exactly sure how. I wanted it as clean looking as possible. I mout the GPS on the lower left hand corner of the windshield. I prefer not to have all that cable snaking around and getting all tangled up. Any advice

There's power right there in the A pillar for the rearview mirror. Many of us have tapped off that for radar detector power. Would do just fine for GPS power too.
