Caliper Covers on - Come and hate if you must

Put on my new caliper covers - and yes I decided to have Viper machined on them to match the wheels.

My overall thought - NOT WORTH IT! These are so overpriced. The are extremely flimsy and deformed from the tac welds on the rear if you look at them in a certain angle. I think they may be worth $75 - but I GOT to rock them now with the change I dropped on them. I'm still on the market for a big brake kit, just wanted something to cover up the ugly stock calipers - I am not trying to fake the funk by any means.

But I guess they do their job.

I really wish they would have extended the side down the caliper a little - it only covers the face of the caliper and none of the side.

Two questions... 1) There's really tack weld on the back of these? I thought they were machined billet - i.e. all one piece. If they're piecing them together w/ welds, The price should reflect that! And 2) Viper, really? I respectfully disagree w/ that decision :-)

Super - what can I say - I thought I was getting something way cooler until they arrived. The good news is that they make me want to get brakes now.

MGP caliper covers are constructed from 6061-T6 aerospace aluminum. The aluminum is heat treated to a T6 condition and it is not flimsy – in fact it is rigid.

The bridges are TIG (tungsten inert gas) welded. TIG is used for a precise high quality weld with 80% penetration. You will see small heat effected zones due to the penetration of weld in a localized area. TIG welding is far superior to spot welding. Tack welding is a term used by welders to “tac” two pieces in place to verify placement before commencing with weld bead. MGP caliper covers are not “tac” welded, but lap welded in a precise positioned weld fixture to insure consistency and repeatability.

All materials are first class from the aluminum, to the stainless steel fasteners to the powder coated finish.

MGP warrantees the product for 3 years from manufactured defects.

I think those Viper covers will bring a lot of attention.
