Blackberry & Uconnect - Help PLEASE

I have recently purchased a blackberry 8700c. (I have a thirty day trial through cingular.) I cannot get the uconnect to connect on a regular basis. I have Motorola v3 never had a problem.

I have researched other forums on uconnect and blackberry. There are several blackberry users that have posted with out problems. I am wonder if this could be a bios problem with the Bluetooth and uconnect. This is the newest of the blackberries. Thanks for your help.

I have a Blackberry 7290 with the aftermarket Uconnect (for now)..

I can connect no problems, but once in a while, it won't connect. I have to take out the battery and put it back in... it will then work again for a while. There seems to be a bug in the bluetooth software somewhere that causes it to loose it's marbles after a while. I find that if I choose the bluetooth disable and then re-enable, it will not work till I pull the battery...

I've talked to friends at RIM (I hang with alot of the guys there) and they aren't aware of the issue. When I am out for lunch with them on friday I will have one of them bind their 8700 to my uconnect and see how it works...

I have an 05 Mag with factory uconnect. I used a 7290 with it for about a 10 months with zero bluetooth problems. I swapped to an 8700c right when they came out, mostly it works fine. In the couple of months that I've owned it it has refused to connect twice, once with uconnect & once with a moto headset. Both times turning bluetooth on & off corrected it. Once during a call uconnect announced that the handset connection had been interrupted but reconnected again with out dropping the call. Not really enough problems that I would have noticed at all except that the 7290 had none.

OK..I deleted my paired device with uconnect. I turned the unit off, took out the battery. I have repaired the blackberry to my uconnect. Pairing was fine.

The phone worked great until I turned my car off. I left the boothtooth on - on the blackberry. Upon restarted the car this is were the unit doesn't connect at this point. I get screen errors on the blackberry - disconnected from uconnect - Waiting for uconnect - Would you like to connect with uconnect- yes or no. The last question flashes for about 2 seconds and then is gone. It will keep doing this, until I turn off the bluetooth. I can select yes but it doesn't respond it just keeps on popping up and then it gone.

I don't think this is my uconnect because my v3 is not having problems.

Nightshade maybe if you read this before your Friday meeting with RIM folks what my errors are.

    Thanks

Just an idea did you go into the bluetooth on your phone and made sure the pairing was setup to always accept to me it sounds like that if it has problems until the car goes off then that could mean that your 8700 is not setup to always accept a connection from it. Try a diffrent passkey like 1234 and lastly disable security on the 8700 in the BT prefrences.

Edit: Also maybe try the priority on uConnect? Is you v3 still primary?

They are not aware of any issues with the bluetooth. They said that you should re-pair it to the uconnect and see if it works. I told them that even on my 7290 I sometimes have problems getting it to connect. They basically told me that the BT on the 7290 isn't that great and is limited. There is new firmware supposedly coming out for it (4.1).

I am trying to get my mits on an 8700r to play with, but nobody wants to share.. hehe

For bluetooth, make sure that you tell it to always allow connect.. under device properties in the berry, Trusted: yes, encryption:yes

Thanks for all your help lx'rs. I have uconnect once again. Thanks much.

Just to pick your brains one last time. I

had my blackberry for about two weeks, I love it. Just tonight on the news they said they might block out blackberries over a lawsuit. I did some research and it looks like the black out date is feb. 13th. The judge will give the users thirty days to find other services. WTF!

I have a thirty day money back return. I am going to have to part with my new toy.

How are others feeling about this.

Nightshade what is going on with friends at RIM? What is their vibe>

Hey XFire&SRT8... Do you experience echoing though the uconncect with your 7100i? I have a 7520 (first bluetooth that NEXTEL had) and it echo's something vicious. I've monkeyed around with volume and every setting I could find, but nothing works. The volume minimizes it, but then neither the caller nor myself can hear anything. Also, does your caller id give you the name of the caller or just the phone # on your uconnect display? I've stored the same phone number with name in both the phone's address book and in the car's address book, but all that is displayed on the uconnect screen (NAV display) are phone numbers... no names/text. If your 7100i functions better than my 7520 then I'll have to swap mine out.

    Thanks!
