300C Navigation DVD Disk Read errors

I have a DVD (AB version) that is giving me disk read errors when the unit has been on for a while and I restart the car.
It seems to stop rebooting when you have multiple starts. For example yesterday we were out for about 3 hours "doing errands" with about 6 stops and starts in about 3 hours. At the end the system would not boot just gave me a "disk read error please CHECK DVD".

I tried ejecting and reinserting the DVD and got the same message. I then ejected it and cooled it off (it was quite hot). When I reinserted it the system booted right up. My guess is the boot portion of the DVD is warping and unreadable when it gets too hot.
The system has never crashed while on continuously for a long time (highway travel).

Anybody else have the problem? Has anyone swapped a disk to solve the issue?
    Thanks :?

Sounds like the cooling fan may not be running causing the electronics to overheat and give you the error. Speculation on my part, I have not heard of this problem with any other cars. I would have the dealer CHECK it out.

Thanks for the idea. I will mention it when I talk to the dealer on Monday.

I have found that I get those Read DVD disk errors as well, particularly when the vehicle has been left in cold weather for a prolong period of time...As soon as the vehicle warms up by the next time I start the vehicle the problem seems resolved.!??!?

I hope you get this problem resolved and keep us posted!!.. :D

Went to the dealer a couple of weeks ago with the error message on the screen. He swapped disks for me (same AB version). So far no problem. I have my fingers crossed!
My original dealer would not swap disks as he said they were all assigned to a car, but my local dealer actually suggested it and agreed that if this worked there was no sense in removing the nav unit to "repair" it.

I just made backup of my NAV DVD to a 9GB DVD DL blank..

If you don't wanna worry about read errors (sounds like you live somewhere that there are extreme fluctuations in temperature... which I guess is anywhere with snow since the interior goes FROM freezing to 70-whatever degrees once the heat is on).. but you can safeguard your DVD NAV disk and avoid paying for a replacement by making a backup copy of it.. Assuming you have a dual-layer DVD burner (Pioneer 108 is among the best) you can buy a Dual-Layer 9GB blank and just copy the DVD over to the blank and voila..

That's what I did.. the backup copies works perfectly in the car though I use the original day to day..

    Nav system boot problem

Just took it back to the dealer with the same problem. Turns out they found an overheating error code. Ordering a new unit for me.

I have a 300C. I asked about getting the "factory install" of the uconnect. The tech was 90% sure that the right harness was in place but the factory would not sell the dealer the components (mirror etc.). Anybody know of a source?
