New 1/4 Mile Registry

After some folks asking for this, I created a 1/4 Mile Registry. It's a rather simple little page that lists the 1/4 mile times and mph you entered in your profile. Only users that entered this info in their profile will appear on this page.

PLEASE only enter TRUE quarter mile times in your profile.

"Well, I THINK my car can do the 1/4 mile in 11 seconds."

NO. Keep this registry for track recorded times only. There were a couple of times in there that are obviously not real, (c'mon 10 seconds in your Magnum?)

I'll be keeping an eye on this page and deleting any false entries.

I, for one, don't buy any 1/4 mile "time" that has only a time and MPH. There are too many that are Gtech 1/4 mile times. If it is real, it has the numbers! A low 13 is suspect. Sorry, but true.

How about a requirement to substantiate the numbers with a picture of an actual timeslip.

This is one of the reasons I thought hard about creating this page before I actually did. It seems to create more problems with everyone trying to substantiate claims.

I created this so everyone could have a place to compare times. It is based on the honor system. Unfortunately, not everyone is honest.

I will add to everyone's profile a disclaimer next to that field that you should only enter a 1/4 mile time if you have actually measured it at a track (not by manufacturer claims or G-Tech readings).

That's really all I can do. If it ends up becoming a problem (which I hope it does not) which spawns belligerent threads, I will have to re-think keeping it.

It's just a feature for members who put time and effort INTO making their cars faster an extra place to SHOW it. Remember guys, don't take everything at face value. There will always be people who exaggerate or just flat out lie. Hopefully we can keep that to a minimum.

It seems logical to LIMIT the 1/4 mile times to Chrysler 300s and Dodge Magnums, doesn't it?
That is the purpose of this site, right?
I, for one, am not interested in weeding through any of those other cars, fast as they may be.

I am adding to the DROP down at the bottom an option to sort by Make and Model. Should be done by later today. That way you can just see Dodges or Chryslers or Magnums or 300...etc etc.

Though everyone that has their quarter mile times (regardless of what car they own) will be shown by default.

Well i have 1/4 mile, trap, 1000ft, 60ft, etc readings but alas they are off of a beltronics accelerometer....hope to get to a track one of these days.

How about adding a boolean field for people to specify whether they have a online version of their timeslip?

That way, assuming that we could select/sort by the "Timeslip?" field in the display, I could also send a PM to someone asking to see their slip, or get them to post it in a new thread...

This might provide a method for quickly weeding out the 10-year-olds.

Not a bad idea. When we get photo hosting up...maybe I can have a special field to just upload timeslips. Something to think about.
