    Chrysler Premiere Night is Here!

Remember, tonight is Chrysler's "Premiere Night" at participating Chrysler dealerships across the nation.

See below for what to expect tonight if you attend...........

    from DC press release:

"'Premiere Night/Days' events are designed to look and feel like a Hollywood premiere with the vehicles serving as the 'stars'," said Gary Dilts, Senior Vice President - Sales, Chrysler Group. "It is an opportunity for us to showcase all of our new vehicles under one roof at the same time, reinforcing the fact that the Chrysler GROUP has some of the most stylish, innovative and affordable products in the marketplace today."

More than four million consumers have been invited to the first "Premiere Night" on April 22, occurring at more than 2,100 participating Chrysler brand dealerships representing nearly 90% of total Chrysler brand sales volume. Invitations were mailed to current and prospective owners inviting them to see the new face of Chrysler vehicles -- the all-new Chrysler 300, the Chrysler Town & Country with Stow n' Go(TM) seating and storage system, Chrysler PT Cruiser Convertible and Chrysler Pacifica.

The April 22 event will be followed by two "Premiere Days" of public celebration when consumers are invited to visit their local participating Chrysler dealer for all of the festivities associated with "Premiere Night."

In addition to direct mail invitations, consumers can learn more about Chrysler "Premiere Days" through owner publications, the brand Web site, www.Chrysler.com/premieredays , and online advertising.

The Dodge "Premiere Night" will be held on June 17, and the Jeep "Premiere Night" will take place in the fall.

    What a night!

We arrived at the dealership around 6 o’clock in the evening for Premiere night ‘04. Immediately upon entering the dealership, the “Front desk” located at the door, took your invitation and records some personal information on a sheet. In return, I was entered to win a number of Chrysler gifts ranging FROM a watch to die-cast models. It was at this time I also received my free coin, complete with case and all.

The environment was low pressure, as the sales staff were extremely friendly and helpful (albeit less then knowledgeable about the vehicles on display) . There was a number of people surrounding the 300C at the time I arrived. The dealer sold three of the cars on the spot, one lady purchasing the car without even taking a test drive. There were five 300’s at the event: two 300C’s, one 300 Limited, one 300 Touring, and one 300 base model. One of the C models was acting as the managers demo car, and already had 80 miles on the odometer.

    300 test:

My test car was a jade 300C, which I can say, lives up to all the drama we have been reading about in the automotive magazines. The 5.7L has more then enough power for most people, as I suspect the majority of drivers won’t even see the need for the cars higher RPM’s, let alone its 340 HP. With the pedal pushed less then half the way, the car effortlessly accelerated to highway speeds. Without even trying, I had the car up to 95 MPH. At such high speeds, you truly think you’re going much slower. The ride was fairly smooth, but not as plush as the old LH cars. Handling is superb, even with the ESP off. Around one corner, I had the car at 70 with almost no body roll felt wahtsoever. In addition, the cushy seats help to keep you planted in place. The interior material quality was impeccable, and by feel, you’d never think this car cost a mere $35K. This car rivals cars that cost $15,000 more, maybe even $20,000. Wind and road noise is nothing more then a mum, and the cabin makes you feel as if you’re in a luxurious isolation chamber on wheels. The navigation system is user friendly and effective at the same time. Boston Acoustics have done their homework when it come to automotive audio systems, as its miles above the Infinity Systems of yore (and those weren’t all that bad either). Cargo room is also good, but less so then the 2004 Concorde and about the same as a 300M. Fold down seats are a big plus, especially for those who need the extra room for large, bulky items. The HID headlights provide a great beam for excellent visibility (something that is otherwise lacking due to the low glass to body ratio). down the road and off to the sides. The standard halogens on the V6 and C models also give a good light output. The difference between the models is apparent, but the base uses the same materials for its dash and center console. Other then the rather plain looking exterior (and ugly hubcaps), the $23,000 300 gives a good value for the dollar. The 2.7L actually feels less lethargic then you may think, but will not make for the smokey burnouts as with the C. Overall, I’m sure anyone who drives any of the 300 models will be amazed. I know I was, and they exceeded my expectations in all areas.

The other products on SHOW included the 2005 minivans, as well as a plethora of PT Cruiser Convertibles. The PT ragtop seemed to be getting a fair amount of attention, as many were taking test drives. To my disappointment, there where no Crossfire convertibles there, or Pacifica Limited’s/Turing's. After seeing these models at New York, it’s safe to say there nothing more then the current models with different trim, and/or (less/more) features.

Below are a few photos of the items given out at Premiere Night 2004:

Coin, drink coasters, Premiere Night decal, coin box holder, Mopar parts ticket for raffle, and reverse side of coasters with vehicle info (but none for the 300), all on a 300 brochure.

Note the $3,000 dollar markup on the cars (this was on a Limited).

And they were getting this too!! The 300 orders are already taken through May. Get to your dealerships and place your orders now, these cars are flying off the lots before they even come in!

I had to search around, but I found the 300C coasters on a back table. They were the hardest to find of all of them so I grabbed five...

It was definitely a hit at the dealerships I visited last night. One of the dealerships had one limited and one C and the other had 15'ish in every model and color. The other cars were receiving some attention, but the real buzz was around the 300's.

BTW - Today's Dallas Morning News contains a nice color pullout section advertising the 300C. It's titled "The Return Of The Great American Car: Starring the 2005 Chrysler 300C". The media blitz will begin now... :D

Lets hope the intial "Oh I gotta get the newest thing!" attitude carrys on.

You don't have to burn books to destroy a culture, just get people to stop reading them.
