9/11 Memorial Event Would you attend... SFL?

I've been working together with a few different companies and we are considering doing an event the weekend of Sept 8th & 9th in honor of those lost in the 9/11 tragedy. We want to support the education funds for the children who lostparentsand arein need. There has been an event going on for a few years in the keys and we'd liketo draw a larger crowdand offersomething more than just a crazy cruise, car show, silent auction, and the sunburn that comes along with it. Our idea would be to bring multiple groups from around Florida on seperate cruises originating from specific locations like the Hot Rod Power tour all ending up in Naples @ the Naples Bay Resort. There will be a car show, Music, raffle prizes, vendor displays, bikini contest, dyno on site w/ highest horsepower awards, along with some other entertainment ideas we're throwing around. The venue is siked and just awaiting final word from us to reserve. Event will be open to all makes and models, diesels, exotics, bikes, etc etc... No funny business just the biggest group of gearheads we can fit into this place to both raise money for a great cause and have a great time! We need feedback from the masses before we jump in headfirst and do this as the initial out of pocket expense for some of us will behugeand we can'trisk itwithoutknowing we havepeople willing to attend. my only suggestion is maybe work with the other cruise or schedule a different time. i am one of thos going to the keys that weekend. and just my opinion, but i would think you would get alot bigger turnout if you were not in "competition" with the keys cruise.

Well that's just it we are not attempting to "compete" with anybody. The nature or our business that we work on all makes and models Exotics, Domestics, Imports you name it. So, I want an event to bring everyone together. The event you speak of is for "Muscle" cars only and doesn't want half of my clientel there. Therefore, I feel it's in my best interest as a shop owner, gear head, and supporter of these charitable groups to put something on that everybody can enjoy! Not to mention the drive down to the keys is dangerous and has lead to more than one vehicle being totalled due to idiots driving like maniacs in the passing areas and rear ending one another. The only weekend to do it would be the 8th and 9th unfortunately as there is a big race the following weekend that would interfere more in my opinion. Nothing is set in stone as I don't have the support I need yet to get this event off the ground, but I'm trying and we'll see how it goes here in the next week or so. If I can't secure a definite plan by June 1st I will throw in the towel merely for lack of time and planning to pull it off by Sept. If I can get the help I need we'll move forward full steam ahead!

ah yes, i didnt realize your clientele, totally understandable. good luck with the endeavor. maybe i can attend next year.
