    --- 8-Speed owners? ---

Does anyone here actually own one of the 2nd gen 8-speed cars? Test driven one? I am curious how it feels city driving compared to the 1st gen v8. The quoted 0-60 times are actually the same. I do 99% city driving so the 8 speed v6 combo would obviously be the smarter choice, however I do like my 06 300C's current power around town.

Test drove an 8 speed, and it was nice. Test drove a 5 speed, looked at the price difference, especially right now, and bought the 5 speed. I liked them both.

Thanks. I guess it is difficult to compare to the srt, but did the 8 speed seem peppy during city speeds (up to 60)?

Are you in need of a car, or want better gas mileage? The math says that you are better off keeping what you have and paying the gas VS the depreciation of a new car.

You know darn well I decided to wait and see about an 8 speed SRT version instead. But, I'm still enjoying my 7+ year old DD with only 52K miles. At least I have a single focus!

Of course. I don't need a new one and won't get one unless I was given an insane deal. I will wait about a year to 1.5 for the first year market hit to drop, but I'm always planning.

Bla, bla, bla.....the 8 speed may take two more years at the rate they are producing them! I think the 8 speed will touch the non srt v8 cars for model year 13' and the srt's in model year 14' when they most likely will do a minor refresh.....you going to wait that long?!?!?!!!

For those interested in the new transmission, here is a good read. 0-60 in 6.6 which is identical to the 06 300C/RT (hemi). 21 mpg city/31mpg highway...winner. I rarely can get over 60 where I live, so higher end power drop off won't really affect me.

Interesting article. I have a feeling you're going to shoot for the Chrysler 200. It's the perfect vehicle for your DD.

I don't think the performance difference is quite as drastic as they let on. I thought Car and Driver just cut about a half a second off the 0-60. (low 7's to mid 6's)

I didn't find the difference to be night and day. And I did feel the 8 speed was a little busy at times.

I have a 2012 SXT Plus with the 8 speed and love it. Felt the 5 speed was just too laggy, once the 8 speed learns your driving style its pretty damn quick. Btw the mpg is rated at 19/31 not 21/31.
