s the vehicle comes to within about 40 centimeters (31 inches) of the object, 1 red LED is illuminated and the display emits a series of short, intermittent, audible beeps. Basically, mine does not do this. It only starts beeping anywhere from 12 to 1 inches from an object. Need to figure out why though.

do you get a "SERVICE PARK ASSIST SYSTEM" warning message in the EVIC display?

I did get that warning before I changed out the shifter module to try to correct the problem. I don't get the warning anymore with the new shifter but the service park assist problem has not changed. It's crazy that the beeps work on the red about an inch away from an obect but they don't work on any of the yellows from 6 feet in. It's really annoying. I actually backed into a concrete wall 6 months ago because they were not working. When I hit the wall the solid beep went off. Sucked!

i'm afraid you'll have to get it scanned. sounds like it could be a cross echo problem. if you can't find anyone local with a starscan/starmobile/witech, see your dealer.

A suggestion if I may. My back up sensor started to act erratically. Sometimes worked, sometimes only one side, sometimes not at all and sometimes lights but no sound. Was also getting error message to service the parking sensor. Was going to take it to the dealer but decided to take a look first. I discovered the connector from the sensor harness to the car was filled with dirt. How it got there I have no clue other than it got submerged in a very muddy puddle while driving. Anyways, cleaned it out and snapped it back together and has been working perfectly since.

another thing to consider my jeep has the tow package on it with the lights. Is that by any chance wired in with the park assist?

thanks for the pic. I looked under the thing and it looks a bbit more complicated. It looks like it's wired into the trailer hitch. It's above my head.
