The quality of the CAI is awesome and it bolted right up. Got it tuned on the dyno the other day and I'm sure this contributed to my descent gains meshed up to a ported TB:
Tq 385 stock, 401 diablo, 415 custom
Hp 377 stock, 371 diablo, 394 custom
Numbers on a md250 mustang dyno
79 degrees 81

Whipple is coming out with a factory SC kit soon. Arrington's website is previewing it... would be badass if you could develop an LMI listed as an upgrade option. I've seen what I *think* are Whipple tests where they use the stock airbox, if you can believe it. Point being, I'm not sure if Whipple will offer their own air inlet upgrade but that thing would sure need one (2.9L SC and optional 112mm TB).
i have done systems for past whipple set ups. i have used the same fender mount principles and tweaked them to fit the various s/c systems that have come along. whipple, magnuson, edlebrock, sts, are just a few.
I could be confused on some stuff here.
I recently saw a kit being advertised that comes straight from Whipple. I thought it was newly announced but now I see threads going back two years talking about the release of this kit. Compared to the Whipple kits from RDP et al from long ago, this "new" Whipple unit is a front inlet design.
The Whipple setups to date that I've seen have been kits setup by 3rd parties or custom assembled tuner setups... all rear inlet on the LX.
Chris, this product alone makes me want to upgrade to a 392... Awesome job!
