11/15/09 - Thompson Raceway Park TNT?

I was at Thompson on Saturday the 7th, for what was supposed to be their last day of the season. They got a pretty good turnout and said on the track speakers that if the weather held up this coming weekend, they'd consider re-opening Sunday the 15th.

I just called the track info line and they said to check back Wednesday night for more information on whether or not they'll open.

If they do, I'll probably head down. I've got the bug now!

Ya see, Saturday was only my 2nd time drag racing (ever). I had an absolute blast and met some cool folks down there before I had to go! The 2-ton pig with the tiny 8-cylinder did pretty damn good for what it is!

My first time out (July), my R/Ts were absolute crap - I think my BEST was .4 and my average was something like .6!

Plus it was hot out, and the car ran a 15.2. Saturday, my worst R/T was .3, the rest were .20 to .26 and I got the car down to 14.80 at 96, followed by a 14.77 at 97, followed by 14.60 at 96.5mph. I think there's more time to be had, honestly. I learned a bunch and I wanna go back!

I let my dad drive once, and he also got the bug. So the goal will be to have him drive the Magnum down, I'll follow in the Marauder, and then we'll trade off and run both cars.

Hey Adam, glad to hear you got the drag racing bug. I'm done for this year, but I know I'll see you at the track in the Spring. Once you get the bug, it's hard to stay away from the track

I skipped 42 this past Sunday because it was TOO nice. If the weather is cold enough to turn a good time I might go. It's pretty far for me. I will follow Al if I go.

hey adam saturday im flipping working. :( i thought they already shut down. are they doing wednesday?

The 15th is a Sunday!

Not doing Wednesday as far as I know.

Just got confirmation from the Thompson website.
They WILL be open Sunday the 15th.

I'll be coming out with the sticky tyres and boosted and tuned so will Steve he's bringing out the UTE if you haven't seen this animal your in for a real treat. The weather should be good low 40's early to mid 50's in the afternoon most likely the last runs of the year for Thompson.

i see it changed for cleveland it went up a little but hard to say out in thompson with it being out in the country best bet is to check on the track locator for the current conditions.

Okay guys the track opens at 9:00am on sunday and the cost is $15.00 to race.
I'll be there with Dynosteve he's bringing his UTE out for some runs and I'm dyno'd so time to put her to the test we finished up on the dyno last night and lets say that she pulls very hard now and with the new halfshafts I'm getting a new PB on sunday.
