    October 2009 LXOM Voting

LX of the Month is a monthly SHOW of appreciation to the member that not only has a cool ride, but also is a great member of the boards!

This contest is sponsored by High Horse Performance. The winner (decided by your votes) receives a $50 credit towards High Horse Performance products!

The voting will end on (Wednesday) 09-30-2009 at 03:59 PM CST!!!

    Good luck!

    Remember:

    • You are not eligible to nominate or vote for LXOM unless you have been registered on LXForums for at least 30 days. This will deter users from signing up just to vote for someone. (Also, you don't really know who to vote for unless you've been here at least month anyhow!)
    • Campaigning is not permitted in this thread.
    • All LXOM voting results are not viewable until the voting is over. We heard a lot of requests for this and we heard you! Its a mystery until the end!
    • You now can vote for more then one person. Yup, all voting will be multi-select. Can't make up your mind? Vote for more then one member! Want to vote for everyone? Go ahead! Regardless, the member with the most votes still wins!

    *Ahem*

Campaigning is not permitted in this thread.
I would have locked the thread after I posted it to curb campaigning, but doing so locks the poll as well...

OK gotcha. Missed that. (and prior post deleted)

Can I instead ask for the nominations thread to be unlocked next time around so we can actually talk about it? Really.

Please excuse me, but I am fairly new here. I see where you can vote, but is there somewhere you can read up about all the nominees? Am I missing something.
    Thanks

Thats what we are trying to get changed....

In the past, during the nomination thread, people would say who they are nominating and why they are nominating them. I much preferred it that way. Gives people a much better udnerstanding of potential candidates before the voting thread/poll is opened.

Now, the nomination thread gets locked right away and nominations are submitted anonymously. Once the potentials are listed in the voting thread, people can post in that thread but are asked not to reference names as it resembles a "campaign" for that person.

While I agree with the anti-campaign portion of the changes to LXOM, I feel that there really is no good place to talk about the nominees anymore. Therefore, we never get to hear a lot of the background stories about each member. But it is what it is, and the mods always say they are welcome to suggestions. Im sure the system is not opposed to further change....

....so feel free to voice your opinion on it.

Seeing how I don't know all or sometimes none of the people, I would like a bio. or at least something about each. I think my vote would mean more than just blindly voting.

Yeah a description of the nominees would be great, in all honesty i vote for the guys name i recognize on the forums the most during the past month. Cause its hard for members all over North America and others from all over the world to know all of the members seeing we just hit 30k. Maybe let the nominess talk about themselves and thier cars, instead of letting the voters rant about them to sway votes? I dunno just a suggestion. The nominess probably wouldn't want to blow smoke out of thier own asses either though.
And how exactly does a member get picked to be a nominee for LXOM cause it seems alot of names are repeated from month to month? Or maybe i am cracking up lol

What sense does this rule make

You now can vote for more then one person. Yup, all voting will be multi-select. Can't make up your mind? Vote for more then one member! Want to vote for everyone? Go ahead! Regardless, the member with the most votes still wins!
