    BCLXOM guideline input

Kuldip and I have been throwing some ideas back and forth for this so we will now throw
it out to the pack for thoughts, ideas and revisions...

    scenerio 1

    1.
A member nominates a person for BCLXOM. Part of the nomination includes a small write up, which can include pics, with reasons why he/she wants that person nominated.
    2. All nominations are sent via a pm to a member overseeing the nomination process, which from those nominations, lets say 3 finalists are picked.
Could we possibly have two picking the finalists to be fair? (thoughts).
    3. After 3 finalists are picked, the names go to a poll for voting, and part of the polling thread would include the write ups sent in from the members that nominated them, located directly under the poll itself, so that all members can read their write ups to aid them in a decision.
In the case of all members nominating the same person, 100%, then that member is automatically declared BCLXOM (thoughts). If also, eg: 6 members, all nominate the same person with slightly different write ups, then the final write up would be edited to include all and delete duplications(thoughts).
    4. Polling would take one week (dates and time to be determined).
    5. Winner declared and sent to Hawaii for a week.

    (thoughts).

    or

    scenerio 2

Declare a BCLXOM winner right off the bat...like Oscar for the month of May.
Then it will be up to Oscar to declare next months winner, based on something a member
did for the club in the previous month or deciding it is time for some recognition for that member etc.
Then the cycle keeps going...the current BCLXOM picks the next months winner...

i think I like the second scenerio with a hawaii trip haha

but what I think is good that people send write ups to the current winner and from the write ups pick three and the rest choose from there just my 2 cents

So you are saying using scenario 2 and then we PM nominations to the current BCLXOM?
Then that member chooses 3 nomination finalists, then puts it out to a poll? That way,
there isn't just one person making a decision
    , thats an idea...

Officially... I like scenario 2, where the current BCLXOM makes the exclusive decision for the following month.
With their selection, the current BCLXOM should also submit a small write-up, describing the reason for their selection.
It would be something a little different than the traditional polling, and would be a good way to promote some conscious thought in to 'why', rather than just picking favourites.
    This is my official $17.17.
    It is logical...

I definately do like the 2nd one but I still think that everyone should vote because it is a BCLXOM not a single person picking just me thinking sorry

I was leaning towards the first one... but when dannyboy added if the previous winner submits a reason why he or she chose that particular member with a essay, .. it could work.. as long as we don't get into a bias issue and favoritism's.. ..

This could be a tough one for the previous winner to pick...

... is it just my screen resolution or is that sublime text getting bigger?

Well Mr wellsy, with no input from a club of 80+, I guess this Idea is dead.

not too sure what happened, I was waiting to see if anyone wanted to add to the suggestion box but I guess not. Senario 2 is Ok, but I agree it may be tough for the current BCLXOM to decide who are worthy for the next month.
We've had some lagre meets lately, maybe we should hold a quick nomination when we have a meet of 20+ people and they can give ideas who the next LXOM should be? There is only a small amount of people who make it out to every meeet let alone 1 a week so it may be a little bias.
Don't know, maybe I'm a little late and

I like the idea of multiple write-ups being made visible to the members prior to the vote, because it provides a history and an introduction to the nominee that new members may not be aware of.

I also like the idea of having the current BCLXOM involved in the process of selecting the next qualifiers. - It keeps the selection process fresh and doesn't place the onus of choosing a BCLXOM all on the same people every month.

I like scenario 2, along with the suggestion by Chuck, a write up included as to why the member was picked, big or small, it would be appropriate for the reason of selection...plus it is simple enough....
How does everyone feel about this selection process?

Maybe a good compromise would be to let the standing BCLOM nominate three individuals or the next month and then submit them to the members for voting. I would also suggest "crowning" Oscar as BCLXMO for June as we are now well into May.
