ok, first off, im not mechanically savvy by a long shot, so hopefully my lame a@@ description will suffice lol.
so here goes...
ive noticed something over the last month or so.lets say im driving along the highway, doing my 120 on the way to work.you know how its never the exact speed at all times, you have to work with traffic.so foot off the gas to slow down a bit, back on to speed back up...you know what i mean.
several times now, i'd be zipping merrily along, hit the gas hard, and if i suddenly lift my foot off the gas and slow down, i get some loud whine.the revs get stuck and never came down with my reduced speed.so its like i was cruising in 5th, did the speedup/slow down...and im doing 100+ in 3rd gear or something.after a few seconds, its like the shift kicks in, the revs drop, and im back to 4th or 5th, and everything sounds good
i mean, a BuilderBill valvebody and SHR tranny were on my retardedly long to-do list lol, but i cant afford major work on this thing right now.we're talking about an '07 RT with barely 72000km's on it
any thoughts??
much appreciated,
dave
Here comes change....
Well for starters is the pan wet? Could be lost fluid due to leaking o-rings.

should be dry by now,i already washed it,havent had eggs in about two weeks....
honestly i have no idea, i wouldnt know where to even look.but now that you mention it, the thing about the o-rings reminded me that when i had it in to get the tie-rods done, he mentioned they replaced the o-rings cuz they were leaking.is that something that could happen again?
It could.....but also you should have the fluid level checked just incase it wasn't topped off.

cool, i'll take it in sometime next week and have that checked.thanks Erik![]()
I've had that issue occasionally, the trans is thinking you want to go fast still I think..
I have 105,000 on my car... I noticed it more with the predator on it.
2005 Dodge MAGNUM RT 13.8 1/4, 100.7mph trap (gone... for now)
1974 Plymouth Duster, daily...
slow engine
slow transmission
slow wheels
my car does that, but its because of the diablo tune and i like it. it holds a gear for a long time after you let off because it thinks you want to hold it on a long sweeper like when your road racing. it also helps you to engine brake coming to the end of straits.
i think its doing the same for you. i don't think you have a hardware problem. what crom are you running? I'm still on 9r07. i don't remember the car holding gears when i let off till upgraded the crom to that file last year. the first diablo crom i used didn't do it.

^^ my prob is, when i do the speed up/let off, and it does that lag in shifting (and im now going nice and fast in a lower gear/higher rpms) if i tried to get back on the gas, the revs just keep climbing up and i stay in that lower gear...until it finally catches up with me and shifts up and the revs drop back down.
its scary dude lol, it sounds like im doing 120 in first gear, the whine is so high
try autosticking it into the proper gear.

it's probably extremely low in fluid, and the torque convertor is whining. i would tell you to check the fluid but your car probably didnt come with a trans dipstick either.
either way 120+ on a trans with low fluid = damage in the long run. just a reminder if it goes out you'll go 40mph in first gear, that's it.
It's the whining you should be worried about.
The lag in shifting is normal, my car is very aggressive the minute you get on it in any way. Turn a corner hard... it won't upshift even if you lift.
Brake hard... it begins aggressively downshifting. You get the idea. Even just hard throttle and it may decide to drop into its 'performance mode'.
Takes as much as 10 or 15 seconds sometimes to revert to "normal".
This is a stock feature of the cars and is part of the ESP program. One of our finest ones.
I'm sure Diablo simply makes it better.

yeah ive just been autosticking it whenever it happens.i think it was best described above...when i tap the brakes, it downshifts hard...the thing is, if im doing 120, and tap the brakes and take it down to 100, it dropped me a few gears.it takes a sec or two for it to realize im not braking any more, and to climb up thru the gears again, thats all.
it just worried the hell out of my the first time it did it, cuz i slowed a tad (im on the highway in the hammer lane, caught up to some dink doing like 90, had to slow down a touch till he moved over), the gears dropped...but im still going fast obviously.then when i step on the gas again...well you get the idea.hence the analogy about the "whine" (not sure what word i should use lol) sounding like im going Mach 3 in first gear
going to try and get it in this week, have them take a look at the trans fluid levels.if the levels are fine, and its just the tune, and it wont hurt anything, then i guess its all good. just wanted to check with y'all first![]()
