Were my expectation to high for a High Stall Converter?

Long story short I FINALLY got a chance to get the 3200 dominator used converter installed at my work (couldnt do it on my garage floor lol). On the way home I gave it some hell in second and it didnt really feel any different then when it had the stock one in it. I am still rocking a stock TCM so that could be the issue, or after reading all these posts maybe I expected too much? It started to rain half way home so I only got a chance to give her hell once and that was from second. I will be taking her out tomorrow, but I figured with that stall and the mods I have listed the car should feel like a missile. Guess I was looking for some input on if thats normal with the stock TCM or I am just expecting too much out of the mod. Thanks for any input!

I really feel my 3500 stall in 1st when I nail it. I do have a MTCM, so the tc is locked up after 2nd. I think you will notice it in your launches and when your going slow and go to WOT. after your in second and shift to third and up the engine will be above your stall speed after the shift so you wouldnt notice any slip or want any. Your cam and procharger will be awsome with the TC.

Yeah I mainly got the converter to help with the launching at the track times. I was hoping for that throw back feeling, but maybe people are talking about in first? I do plan on getting a MTCM for sure though. Just have to see who is having the best deal :D

your only gonna feel the stall when you hit it and your rpm's are below the stall speed. say your in 2nd and your rpm's are 2k and you hammer it, the rpm's are gonna shoot up to 3200 and you will feel it pull pretty hard. once your rpm's are close to or at 3200 you wont notice its not a stock stall.

I see you have nice steep 3.91 gears; that's got to help move things along. I'd bet that was a HUGE change from stock. With your gears the motor is already spinning up pretty good going off the line. That's probably why you are not feeling a big difference. With the factory ratio you might have notice a harder launch after a converter swap. With 3.91 cogs you are probably already getting a pretty good '60 time. 3200 rpm stall with all your mods won't feel like much of a difference but should still help launch the car better assuming you get enough traction.

I need to get a stall convertor. I just don't understand how it works exactly and if there will be a big difference being that it is a DD and I don't want to get annoyed of it....

How much power are you putting down to the wheels?

I would think that you would want a higher stall with your mods....

It was probably locked up. Hit it from a stand still and see what happens.

Power level: Unsure of as Johan is still helping me dial the fuel all in and I plan on hitting a dyno soon

Stall Level: I read that with the power level and the blower that a 3200 would be a great stall speed from a few trusted sources on the site

Track: I have not gotten any track time yet. I plan on getting some drag wheels/radials and seeing how she does. With 4psi and stock gear/converter last year the best I was able to do was a 2.00 with the stock SRT rims and Toyo proxes with the 22's up front. We shall see how it does with the converter and the ability to actually launch. Issue I am running into now is I hear brake stalling it at the line to long will actually pull timing. Always something lol

I am also thinking about a Mopar TCM as alot of folks seem to say Converters/MTCM make a great combo. Just have to see which one of the dealers on here give the best price :D

Just the Getrag axles from a challenger R/T. From reading that should be enough for the power level I feel I might be (maybe 550rwhp)

Picture the stall converter similar to having a stick shift. If u have a 4000 stall like me it would be like revving a stick shift car to 4000 and holding it there then releasing the clutch . This happens instantly with a stall converter. Pretty insane and a lot more consistent.
