    Predator or MTCM ?

Sorry for beating a dead horse with the Predator / MTCM stuff.

I would like some opinions please.

    Here is what I Have:
    • 2005 Magnum R/T
    • 62,000 Miles
    • Frankentake CAI Setup
    • Removed Suitcase Muffler
That's all the mods I have done. I love the car and drive it year around; approx. 1800 Miles a month.

I want a firmer transmission feel. This thing suxs.

Do I do the Predator, Or the MTCM ?

    Very simple question... Thanks

I'd go Predator. FYI - Since you drive the car alot, the MTCM locks the converter in 2nd gear and shifts into the upper gears quick when not WOT. Not a big deal to me but could be a bit annoying for everyday driving.

Predator just does so much more and is a good foundation for future mods.

That being said: you'll notice better trans performance w/ the MTCM

If the only choice is one then go with the predator. That beiing said... The MTCM is easily far superior to the diablo for trans control.

If you put the MTCM in you will need the Predator to raise the rev limiter. Otherwise limp mode is inevitable. Because the biggest feature the MTCM has is the ability to hold a gear using Auto-Stick.

You could do a Builder Bill Valve Body, now that will firm up the shifts and you don't need a Predator.
Works good with the stock TCM too!!!!

I don't want to hijack this thread but how does the "silver box" fit in to all of this? Which one, MTCM, Predator, Blue Tops or "silver box", is the best to get rid of the sloppy shifts on a 2006 without giving us any other issues to deal with afterwards? The sloppy shifts are the ONLY thing that drives me nuts on this car! It would also be handy if someone in the know could post the price impact from lowest to highest (without actually posting actual numbers). I think that most of us aren't worried about labor because we do it ourselves.

See this: MTCM...what it does and doesn't do (my .02)

Blue tops and valvebodies mean "going into" the trans and may scare off most. Valvebodies are in the $500 range. I think Blue tops, silver box, and MTCM are all in the $250 range. Blue tops and silver box shift hard. Valvebody improves the whole operation but still using same software (TCM). The MTCM is basicaly reprogrammed TCM. So I would guess the MTCM is like adding a predator, VB like adding a cam without a tune. Silver box is adjustable which others are not.

If your not going to do heads/cam , you might even try the SuperChip tuner. I seem to remember that had some decent transmission features. I had the MTCM , it was great at the track, but ended up getting rid of it, because it was a might too firm on the street for me.
