Yes, I understood it was ok for the mtcm too... what I was just wondering though... is if the mtcm was learning slower normal driving and to the track carrying gear and maybe we need reset it more often or vice-versa, not reset it at all....?

We discussed the possibilities at length on Saturday, and were basically making a list of the things it could be.

Never once did the thought of the TCM come up. It would certainly be serendipitous if, in fact, that turns out to be the problem.

I spent some time right at the line monitoring what was going on with hemiwagn's car at launch. He wasn't spinning, but the nose of the car would rise, then droop a bit as the car seemed to bog for a split second then take off again.

I borrowed Greg's Mopar TCM to take a couple of runs, and on the very first I noticed the exact issue he was having.

With the AWD the nose rising is far more dramatic and exaggerated.

I launched the car the same way I did the previous 10 times that day, and as usual up came the nose, then down it went, and up again. This is something that I had not seen at all before.

I immediately went back to the staging lanes. Shut the car off, unplugged the Mopar TCM and plugged my stock TCM back in, and..... Problem Solved.

    Mopar TCM = 2.1 to 60'
    Stock TCM = 1.8 to 60'

Sure, it's just one test, and can't be looked at as definitive proof, but it's a place to start.

Just thinking...... hemiwagn... When did you start running your Mopar TCM all of the time? I seem to remember that you would swap out the Mopar for the stock unit for running on the street.

Well, I'll have mine there this weekend.... So I can do some back to backs to see how it's doing, then you can try mine to see if it smokes yours.

Kinda nice, two cars built the same week...

I wonder if the flash on the MTCM gets corrupt when it's modified with the Predator. I remember something, from back in the early days of tuning, people would swap out TCM's before installing a tune. Is there any way to flash a MTCM back to the factory "out of the box" program ?

It seems very obvious to me. The fastest 60ft times belong to PI cars. You had a PI converter with a great 60ft and ever since you changed converters, your 60ft time has suffered.

I would love to know who red-beaned me for having an opinion. I have never received a red bean on this site and to get one for thinking the converter is the difference seems a little childish.

ive been fighting 60fts (like i said) with my PT2800.
i would be changing out to a PI converter (as reccomended by a trusted racer/friend of mine) if i wasnt going to be going to a 6spd car next year.

its good to hear some reinforcement on the issue.

The converter may be the thing but it is not as simple as I had a PI before and now I have another converter so that must be it.

The behaviour of MTCM in Token's car cannot be ignored. And slideway has the same converter and similiar engine build as mine ran great at ATCO.

So, one thing at a time, it will be fairly easy to A/B test the tcm on a good track day - hopefully this weekend.

greg, im sure the TCM was the culprit but it's always good to do an A/B test of it.
