Light knocking sound in the Diff

    Hi Guy's,
    I need help again
When i am sitting in a traffic jam and we are crawling ( 2 - 5 mph ) i can hear a light knock or light grind intermittingly from the rear of the car. ( 300C ).

The knock / Grind is repetitive and as you get faster ( 5 - 10/15 mph ) it gets quicker with the wheel revolutions and then once you go over these speeds you can't hear it.

There's no vibration of any kind and on the Freeway there is no sound at all except the notes of the Exhaust

If i go around a roundabout one way the noise is lighter than if a go around the roundabout the other way which indicated to me that it was in the wheel area
    ( Could be wrong )

I thought it maybe the Hub/bearing assembly so i jacked up the rear wheels and rotated them around but apart from the clonk of the driveshaft and the touching of the new breaks there is no other sounds.

Has anyone else had this happen to them and could you please help me.

    Cheers
    Alan

If you recently had brakes installed I would check them carefully and make sure everything was tighten properly. The dust shield could be bent slightly and catching on a bolt causing the clicking sound.

    check your axle nuts.
i dont know the recommended torque rating.... but a breaker bar and all of my weight on em is what i recommend

have had a few local guys with em come loose and cause odd sounds.

also look at the dust shields on the axle seals at the differential. maybe one is bent just enough to cause some rubbing? hard to say really.

Ive had this Thread in the 300C,Magnum R/T, Charger R/T ( 5.7 V8 ) section and In this section and i'm finally accepting the fact that this noise i'm experiencing needs a bit more time to come to light.
Thanks Hemi31,Storm4,Popeye and Dudeiwin for your comments and i'll just burn a bit of rubber to see if it gets worse.
If anyone can tell me what kind of noises i would expect for a HUB/BEARING Assembly needing repair
then at least that would help.

    Cheers Again

With wheel off the ground you should be able to hold the wheel at 9 and 3 o'clock positions and then 12 and 6 you should not be able to notice a significant amount of movement. I have a few sets of hubs that have very low mileage laying around and if you pay the shipping I could send them to you. I realize where you are and know that parts are expensive. We (America) are indebted to your country helping our Forces keep the peace "aboard". If it is of help!
