Just replaced my Axles for 09 R/T ones now its leaking

So it seems im leaking some out of the passenger side diff some place. It looked like the seals were fine but the diff has alittle bit of oil on the passenger side. why would it do this?

Do you think you might have nicked the seal putting in the new shaft?

I recently upgraded to the SRT diff and the shop that installed it for me left the tone rings off the first go round and had to pull the hubs off and install them. Don't know if they pulled the axles all the way out the second time but I am having the same problem - passenger side leakage. Only thing is it seems to not really be a seepage but leaks only when driven. Every time I get out after driving it I can smell that distinct diff fluid burning smell from it dripping on the tailpipes. I'm thinking they nicked the seal on the top side of it during one of the times they messed with the axles.

You definitly need the seal.Dont expect Dodge to have them in stock, but they can get them.Try the benz dealer they should have it in stock.

When I have time I will have to check it out and see whats up. If its the seal on the passenger side whats the easyest way to replace that? Do I need to drop everything again

    Yes

    don't cry too much........

But someone told me that there is a way to take off the hub and something else then slide the axle out without dropping the rear.
    There is just enough room.
RIP nhDave - Never forgotten, my friend

Thats a very very good posabilaty! I filled it when it was out of the car so maybe when I filled it up, I had the diff tilted wrong. I think im going to pull the plug and check it. If not then im going to pull off the hub, and the stuff on the outer side and pull the axle out.

If it's barely leaking you can monitor it monthly, checking the level and add a couple oz. gear oil here and there when needed. (maybe check it weekly for a month first)

Thanks, but I was able to keep my money in my pocket on this deal... The dealership I bought it from fixed it under my 3/36k warranty! I was kinda surprised but Ii guess they figure they can just get Chrysler to pay it with some of that stimulus money they got from Uncle Sugar... When I called them in the afternoon on the day I dropped it off they told me they were waiting on some additional parts to come in the next morning. I asked (innocently) if they had found something else wrong since they had told me in the AM the parts would be in that morning... They told me no, they were just waiting on another seal to come in. I figure they original seals were the wrong part number and they had to reorder the correct ones... An additional bonus is that they replaced both left and right seals even though it was the right one that was seeping.
I had only 35 miles left before the extended warranty ($100 deductible) kicked in too so it was done just in the nick of time.
