How hard is it to install a Torque Converter??

Ok so I am considering putting a torque converter in my car sometime after the new year....How difficult is the install? Would I be safer to just pay a shop to do it??

    Thanks.

If you have access to a lift it's a pretty easy job. Without a lift, on the ground it's real tough to do. To give you an idea how tough it is on the ground, HEMI31 will not do the swap without a lift.

You need to remove the transmission to put a converter in............

I always pay someone to do it for me, as you need a lift and special tools.

You don't "need" a lift. You can do it in a garage w/ tall jack stands and some patience. If you're doing engine work at the same time, it's almost easier to just pull the engine.

Unfortunately I wont be pulling my engine out any time soon....but it is good to know that it is manageable on jackstands...

    Great information here...
Awesome write up Cam, Thanks a bunch !!!

I'm getting ready to do mine tomorrow <fingers crossed>.

How tall do ya need to have the jack stands to get the transmission out from under the car?

I'm doing a whole transmission and swap out with a newer one while installing the Pro Torque 2800.
