    converter swap-what's a fair price?

    Greetings,

    I got a 3K Edge TC from another forum member.

    I've been getting prices from local tranny shops to do the installation. (2006 Magnum RT, RWD)

    Including a fluid/filter change the average is about $ 600 out-the-door.

    Seems kinda high to me.

    Was thinking it would be more like $ 400...any ideas ?

    Local shop charged me $260 and I supplied fluid. He's a performance shop used to doing them on mustangs/camaros

    That's a bit steep. I'd say between $300.00 - $400.00 with fluid & filter

    You're lucking you have rwd.. the awd tc swaps are a lot of work.

    $400 is fair for rwd I would say. Most auto trans places should be able to do (rwd) it in two hours honestly, unless they opt to do a trans service at the same time.

    I guess I should have said former dealer....they got the shaft during the Chrysler bankruptcy.........but the service manager is now service manager for a Kia dealership....most of his techs came from the Dodge store....if you are interested I can check with him to see what he would charge...PM me if you want.....I am in upper East TN in Kingsport...

    I was quoted $400 for fluid and tcm relearn....drop off at 8 and pick up at noon....so I did it myself in my driveway in 5 hours and a couple beers
