Broken axles from DSS

MY buddy Big Al whom is not on these forums has a 11.4X sec 426 charger with a quaife, 3.23 gears and obviously upgraded 1000 hp DSS axles.... Last Friday when he was at the track he busted his drivers side DSS axle... well we where shocked to say the least... but none the less DSS manned up and sent him a spare..... after install we went to the track yesterday and he broke it again.... He's not making crazy hp... (he making 489rwhp not sure about the tq) but the point is why are these braking in his car?

Now DSS says they are only sending him the short shaft par vs the entire complet half shaft.....

Either way I know there is a vendor currently in the works on making something bigger and way way stroker then these...

Do you guys think it has some thing to do with his greas and quaife? He manages to run solid 1.60 60' time like my self and like myself he breaks his axles.

Did his Quaife survive? They are often ruined when a shaft breaks.

Not sure... He drove it after the 1st axle was replaced 70 miles to the track with no issues.... Good question though

I this B.S. ing you guy now, make thing stand up to their specs. they should send him a hole new shaft again. you paid for 1000HP half shafts , make them stand up to it

These guys are scaring me... as I have the DSS shafts as well... and only differences are I am still on stock gears and do not have a quaife.

Quaife is on order ... but am sticking with stock gears for now.


Now this is an interesting POINT. If one side shaft is broken even if they are independent maybe both sides need to be replaced ?

What are the ODDS of the SAME two individuals breaking shafts would end up BREAKING it AGAIN except if they were on the opposite side?

Quite a few of us have been running these for a while without issues.Can you confirm when BigAl purchased his?Im wondering if they changed something in the manufacturing process..Hmm

I know he had his 1st set on there for a while all last race season... then they just sent him a new axle last wk to that covers the time spectrum....

DSS said that they have the hub portion made in China and I think that's the section that broke both times....

Look for a certain vendor to step up to the plate and start making a replacement axle vs these from DSS who are out sourcing their product to save a few dimes on our expense.

Tored#1169 new 1000hp axles (6.1) are clicking as well.... it kept him form running at ATCO last wk too.

I think someone may be cutting corners on the metal specs as of late, The older ones are still hanging tuff. Someone outta ck out one of the broken ones, Have the metal compared to the older units. Just a thought!

Well the must changed something to cut costs IMO..Again I have a early set with no issues.Im making 530hp and 580tq w/ consistant 1.6x 60'...well no issues yet.. :(

thats always fun chinese metals on a american muscle car...... lol that sucks thats happening because im in the market for new half shafts, diff, brakes lol and i was looking at the DSS axles and now not so sure....

X2. If indeed they are outsourcing to China, they have traded quality for cost. Same as many of the aftermarket exhausts, which will rust out in no time. I hope this is not the case, and if it is, wow...poor business decision.
