I have yet to look at a map to see exactly where you are going, but wellcome to Europe!
When in Germany you have the previlege of unrestricted highways, GREAT beer and you have to try a "gegrillte sveinehaxe"...
You want it "knustprich", it should be about a kilo and if you´re not full by the end of your meal you have a serious problem!
Lots of great places, close to everything and a "must" in my world is Hitlers old teahouse "Eagles nest".
Oh, and Shloss Neuswanstein, the castle Disney used as a model for his...

I have looked at a map, and it is a very nice part of Germany that you are going to. In the Eifel mountains close to the famous Nürburgring, you have to go there when you are that close. The Mosel valley with its vineyards is also nearby. As is Luxembourg and Belgium. So a lot to see and do in that part of Europe.

I'm here now been here since 2010,its a small base but getting some big changes within the next year like a new bx that's huge, a new hospital, a new gym. The local area is nice it's pretty quiet around here doesn't get very hot in the summer around 80 degrees but it gets in the negatives in the winter. I didn't bring my charger due to how high insurance was and the weather it also doesn't help that gas is around 4.55 a gallon either. Everyone here usually just buys a beater car,i'm outta here in 2 months moving to Florida.

ya i just left germany was stationed there since 09' insurance was around 340 a month..... then after deployment since i got a year older it was 260 a month. your best bet is a german insurance agency. stuff like USAA and geiko etc etc that will insure overseas want way to much. reason being is germany requires "million" euro insurance so your premiums will be higher
