I am in the Navy and can't believe this crap. I am married to a Japanese woman and both of my kids were instantly US citizens when they were born in Japan. I know there is a process for her to stay in the states due to her child being an american citizen. My wife's friend did it in Hawaii after her husband divorced her. Unfortunately, this situation is more common than you would think.

That's just wrong on so many levels.

    EDIT
(Not a marine but someone that dealt with immigration before)
I hope it was OK to post here.

Former Marine here. I had a personal policy of never getting married while I was still in the Marines just for reasons such as these. I have seen several similar things happen, not exactly this scenerio. However, and it isn't cheap, a good lawyer can get this worked out. Seen that happen too, wasn't cheap, my buddy's parents had to help with the money, but it got done (that was over 20 years ago though).

Good Sirs, Is there anything that can be done from our end to help them? I am not a Marine. I would have loved to have been but my greatly diminished color vision at the time I wished to enlist prevented me. I have a great love for the US military and I have become greatly tired of the treatment that I have seen our heroes recieve. What can be done?

I had the same policy when I was a Marine. Just to many things to go wrong while in the corps. to justify being married, for me. But I was a helo-door gunner so I could have died at any one of the many moments spent in the air during peace or war.

x3 on that...too many people went through too much crap for me to ever take an interest in looking for a wife while I was in...heh. I cant believe this lady is having to put up with this crap though...hopefully it all gets worked out.
Politically correct is for people too scared to say what they really think.

Wanting a family is one of the reasons I got out. You can't have two #1 priorities and the military makes sure they come first. It is what it is...

It may sound harsh to those not familiar with the Corps, but we have a common saying that gets picked up in Boot Camp and goes something like this "If the Marine Corps wanted you to have a wife, we would have issued you one." There's a purpose for that but it goes beyond the subject matter of this thread. My point being, and another saying in the Corps "Marines take care of their own" which just happens to include their families, don't need Uncle Sam doing it for us, we're better at it. I don't need to know this particular Marine or his spouse. I do know, as sure as Chesty Puller was an a-hole, that there are plenty of Marines, who know either of the couple, are doing all they can to help them out.

If this Marine gives his fullest measure of courage and sacrifice:

Will his son get his flag?

I got married in Korea while serving in the Army. You can't believe the hoops you had to jump thru, put up by both the military and the Koreans. Luckily my wife's family was wealthy and her father was politically connected. The Army told every one, if we wanted you to have a wife , we would have issued you one!
