    Long Night...Me, 4 Drunks & 5 Cops

About midnight I hear this yelling and screaming outside my house. I am kind of used to this because some of the young Airmen walk by my house at night to get back home to the dormitories and it doesn't normally bother me. I was young and dumb at one time. But, this was not a weekend and was on a school night. Well this went on for 10 solid minutes and they were screaming and fighting (2 of them--the other 2 were trying to break up the fight). They were screaming the "F-Bomb" every other word at the top of their lungs and in my subdivision we have a lot of kids.

So I walk outside in shorts only, no shirt. I looked like was straight out of the Trailer Park. I introduced myself and they continue to keep yelling at each other and trying to fight for the second time. I then got pissed. Normally when a Chief Master Sergeant or First Sgt talks, people will listen, especially those that are about to get in trouble. Well, they didn't. So I said as politely and loud as I could, "Shut the (insert explicit) up! Get your drunk a$$ess back to the dorms! I told them that I didn't call the cops, but someone probably already had done so. They kept arguing and finally starting walking. Well, they get about 20 feet and start going at it again. I turned around and told them, "Look (insert explicit)!!! Get your a$$es out of here, there are young children here trying to sleep and the cops are probably on their way!" They stopped for a second and about the time I turned around to walk back to my house, 5 cop cars swooped in on their a$$es. They were face-planted on the sidewalk and grass. The cops cuffed and stuffed them because they needed to find out who was fighting. I had to write a report up. I didn't get to sleep until 2AM and then had to go run 8 miles at 630AM in the same morning. I am paying for it now.

Well I called the offender's bosses the next morning. I wanted to at least tell them that 2 of the Airmen were trying to be good Wing Men and stop the fight. I didn't want them to get in trouble along with the other guys.

Sad thing is, if they listened to me, they wouldn't of went to jail. They were a 5 minute walk from the dorms. I remember being that age. That is why I didn't call the cops.

    Oh well, live and learn.

    Chief, I fully understand.

As a former Airman SF and now a police officer civilian side I know what you are talking about. You wouldn't believe the amount of times we tell people to shut their mouths and they will be home in a few minutes. So many want to talk their way into jail cells for the evening.

It is nice to see a Chief that genuinely cares for the troops. Never found that in the SF side of the house.

Like I said, I had "been there done that". I was just trying to get them on their way before the cops came. And, to shut them up. They were waking up people on 2 different blocks. Plus, throwing the "F-bomb" around when you have small kids in housing. After 10 minutes of it, I just wanted them on their way. One of the drunks, I just found out, was in trouble before. Plus, just a couple of weeks ago, he was "coined" by a 2-Star General. Tonight he was supposed to sit at the head table at a Awards Ceremony with our 1-Star. That got yanked. I heard the 2 that were trying to be good will not be in trouble...so that is good.

I remember my first month at my first duty station. Still not on 'flight' yet and I get pulled in for underage drinking. Good thing I was stone cold sober, but for whatever reason they pulled everyone in (later found out they were gunning for just one frequent flyer)

Despite blowing .00 on the breathalyzer and getting only an hour of sleep before the next day the First Sgt still pulled me in and ripped me a new one. He lost it when I respectfully asked him what I had done wrong, I was just in the dorms and was NOT underage drinking.

Really set the tone for the next 5 years. SF field is filled with idiots.
