Ok - I'm kind of in a stick situation, and don't know how the laws work (NC). Several months ago, I dismantled my car. This was just before my registration was due for renewal. In NC, you must pass inspection in order to renew the registration. So since I obviously couldn't pass inspection, my registration expired. My insurance has remained in tact.
Fast forward to today. Car is put back together, and I need to get it inspected in order to get it registered again. However, the computer will not read ready for inspection until I put 70-100 miles on it. How do I do this if the car is not registered? Seems like a chicken and egg scenario. I can't drive it on the roads without a registration, but I can't register it unless I put miles on it so it can be ready for inspection?
What do I do??
Thanks!!

Yikes. I'd hate to have to drive 100 miles on a dyno...... Hopefully there's a way to do this. I'm wondering if I can apply for a temporary registration or something?
only way to know is to go to the DMV and ask right?
how about go for inspection....they should give you a temp inspection...then go register and then drive. They give us 10 days up here to fix issue if you fail inspection first time. So you need to find out if they will register with temp inspection sticker.

5 or 6 months expired.
Just picked up a 10 day temp registration at DMV for $5. Hopefully there is nothing that would prevent it from passing inspection, as they only allow the temp registration once....
