    Cbp

So today I spent my day in the Federal Building in NYC, I took my test for Border Patrol, and think I did quite well, so hopefully I will be working for the federal govt. Anyone else here CBP?

Im not yet, but hopefully Ill be taking the test soon as well. First I need to teach myself Spanish...its a requirement and back in high school I had some trouble catching on so before I test I wanna know its not pointless...hah. Congrats though! Hopefully you've got yourself a new career!

You don't need to teach yourself spanish before you take it. I took mine with no background in spanish at all, and I got my results back today and scored a 96%. They have an artificial language you can take it with, and they teach you spanish during training.

Good luck fellas! CBP came and talked to us in our TAP class before getting out of the Navy, they said if you know spanish already you can test out of that part of the academy. If you don't know spanish, you will before they cut you loose.

I think Im better off waiting until I know it. I took it 2 years in high school and couldnt retain any of it...pretty sad actually. Only reason I passed was the teacher liked me...lol

I already have 4 years in the Marines, wonder if that will help at all with getting accepted? For some reason they never showed up at our TAP classes. We only got sh*t like UTI and some other tech school.

LOL, I wish I had paid more attention to high school spanish! If I knew then that I would end up in South America, and live in California (northern Mexico) for 4 years I definitely would have actually learned it!

For those that don't know spanish you can apply for CBP Officer and if you're not assigned to the southern border you don't need to take spanish. I've been with CBP since it's inception after 9/11 and previous to that with one of the heritage agencies that formed CBP, over 10 years total service.

Good luck with the job DanRHeller.
