Intell! I think the Army recently changed some of their rules but as an E-4 you can go in as an interrogator and at E-5 apply for Countier Intelligence Agent if you wish. Warrant officer is hands down the best of both worlds if you plan to be a lifer.
Good luck! I did Army Counter Intell for a bit so if you decide to take this route and have any questions feel free to ask.

Well Kevin, if you decide to swap over I have a lot of freinds that use to recruiters that are willing to talk to you. If you are thinking long term like retirement do ROTC, they are going to offer BAH soon for guys going to school. I was making about 2k a month going to school + my GI bill not bad. I did not even try for grants but I know I could of got it.
What those guys are saying is true, but that work is limmited the intel MOS and stuff. The real jobs where you can get jobs easy is administration and logistics. Those jobs are easy to sell. I was responsable for a supply wearhouse that anuully handdled a billion dollars in inventory sells well.
Also, you need to try to find some thing you realy enjoy.
My friends were communication specialist and went and got all there microsoft cirtifications and went from making E5 pay to $100,000 a year doing contract work. His specialty was VTC. Great Guy. He got his BS in information systems while in the army also. If he would of had a TS he could of esaily made 150,000. Lot of options and I know you were doing my old job, thats a GS8 or GS9 position. You should just call me and we can talk, I have a POC in Japan thats looking for people to work.

Dragon's right. you have to think about the job itself, not just the overall title, ie Intel. Intel itself has multiple sub-jobs, if you will, with communications being one of them. not sure if the Army breaks it down further or not, but network communications (system administration/network administration) will net you the best options of after-career jobs. every place needs someone to manage their computer networks. a counter intel guy won't have as many options and places to choose from. Not that counter intel isn't a cool job, cuz it is, you are just limited on where you can go after the military...especially if you decide that you don't want to work for the gov't anymore.

What's your current rate? Army has Air Traffic Controllers too, go up to Wheeler AAF near Schofield Barracks and see what options are out there. I had a buddy go blue to green a couple years ago, even though he had an MOS assignment, the Army changed it at the last minute and put him where they needed him. He's in intel now with the 1st Infantry Div. out of Fort Hood Tx. He picked SSGT within 6 months (he was a second in the Navy) and is in Afghanastan right now.
