Your plans for Thanksgiving are ....

I was wondering what everyone was doing for the upcoming holidays. I'll start. Well I've been duped for the third straight year. My wife has invited her mother, mother's boyfriend (whom I don't care for) and her brother. If I'd have said no then how would that make me look? Like a big jerk right? I had to say ok, but I told them I'm not dressing up, may not even get dressed at all. Mother in law said she's still coming. Weirdo. Well, I don't have to do much with the cooking, wife likes doing that. She is first going to do the "Turkey Trot" (5k run/walk) with her mother and wanted to know if I wanted to go. I don't think she even knows me any more. Of course I said "Hell no." My plans are to snack until football games start then fill my pie hole full of my wife's great cooking. I will then complain that I ate way too much. Blame the wife and then fall asleep. Now THAT is a tradition I can live with.

We are going to the York, PA area for our annual sharing of Thanksgiving with some old college friends (circa early 70s). Going up on Wed. Coming back on Sat. After eating way too much on Thursday and watching the football games, we always take in a movie (or two) on Friday. They are in a newly constructed house, so we're really going there (vs. their coming here) to scope out their new digs.
Still in love with my first wife, and first car ('68 Charger)... Still have the wife!

Well good news here. I just took a peek at wal-marts sale ad for the day after Thanksgiving and they don't seem to have much in the way of deals. Sooooo for the first time since I met my wife..... I'm sleeping in!

Like TheBeastMaster, I too will be working 12 hours. 12 the night before and 12 on Thanksgiving night. Midnight shifts are no fun. At least I'll be able to eat some turkey (if I can drag my A$$ outta bed, that is)

We have 30 +- family and friends that start arriving around 10 am. Folks bring all sorts of dishes and we supply two turkeys, two sirloins roasted on a spit, allong with a spiral cut ham. We borrow chairs from the fire house and set up a buffet line for the food and drink. The kids (32, 28, 24) bring video games and we set up a few pack and plays in the back room with a baby monitor for the naps that will be needed. This is about the last time during the year that everyone can come together before the weather turns the travelers into house zombies so we will always do it! After Thanksgiving I start to get the winter mode going, wax the Magnum and put her to the side, drag the sled in a tear down the engine to check for damage from last years sieze up ride, she runs so I expect minimal damage, lost a fuel pump and starved it at high speed.

Every couple years or so we have a big Turkey day celebration at our restaurant.
The restaurant is closed and we invite family, friends, employees, and anyone else who has no place to go.
Lots of TV's, 4 kegs, commercial kitchen and dishwasher... makes it easy.
This year we have about 60 people showing up so I will be cooking most of the day!

We were invited to my Sister-in-laws for dinner (she lives 15 mins away) but I declined, as I like my wife's cooking better. Plus they all smoke and I have Asthma.............. they used to smoke out on the Lanai, but have started to smoke in the house now. They do turn a fan on, but second hand smoke is still bad for you. We may go over for desert, but I won't stay long.

We don't do holidays around here...but Thursday we're driving to St Louis for a 40th anniversary Martini party for my parents that will take place on Friday. While in town, I plan on hooking up with other family, my kids, & another charger gal I know there. Maybe even try to get my brother on the forums with his Hemi Truck he's driving. We'll be returning home sometime Sunday. No rushing, no stress, good food & drink at the party...good weekend to rest up from the hectic work week I'll have to start with.

Me and my better half will get to spend it together which is nice because my work schedule often means I have to work on Thanksgiving. We are both football fans, eat your heart out guys (I mean she's a REAL football fan and can quote player stats but only for the Giants), so we'll be consuming mass quantities and watching the games together ... we also reached out to the members of our DFWLX Club and offered the opportunity for any member of the club to come and join us rather than be alone ... trust me, the old lady is a master chef and there will be so much more food that I can eat in a week ... I sincerely hope if anyone's situation puts them in a position where they might be by themselves because of work or whatever, they are welcome to join us however briefly to have dinner and hang out for a while ... this has also been posted on DFWLX.com and is a sincere invitation ....
