Car Trashed by Hail Storm :-(

Pictures don't do it justice, it's bad... It was like baseballs hitting the car. This is some of the dammage that stuck out to me:

I've filed a claim. Have not gotten to talk to an adjuster yet. It literally just happened like 2 hours ago. I'll get the ball rolling tomorrow. Maybe it's not as bad as I think. Maybe some good will come out of it.

There are 4 major/huge dents in the hood that I count. 3 are in body lines... I am hoping I can talk them into a new hood, then I'll add whatever and go SRT8 (trying to look at the positive side here).

other than that, above the drivers door is pretty bad, 3 pretty major dents there. One big one on the weld on passenger side of the roof. and a medium dent on each rear hip. If those are bondo and paint, they'll pry paint the whole fender and I'll see about upgrading my tail stripe from vinyl to paint. Pry only cost a couple hundred extra if they gotta paint and clear the whole fender anyways.

From what I saw, the rest still looks alright. I am determined to turn this into something good.

The Maggie I am now driving is from Tx and was cught in a hail storm with similar results. They were able to fix all with paintless dent repair, , don't know how it works but you can't tell it was ever damaged. I dont think though any of the dents were on a seam.

I had similar damage a couple years ago and was able to get a new VIS carbon fiber srt hood and two tone paint job out of the deal. But I live in a 'rural' area and didn't even have an adjuster look at the car. I could have gone paintless dent removal but worked with the local body shop and he did the paint without any extra markup, the hood was actually cheaper than a factory new replacement.

Being from SoCal, I find it incredible, the amount of damage hail can do. On very rare occasions, where I live, we will get pea sized hail, but nothing that could create damage.

Hope you can get it repaired quickly.

BTW, I have used the Paintless Dent Repair services and have been amazed at the end product... it's as if the damage never existed.

    Good luck...

Some of the hail was the size of baseballs. I was on my way to go pick up my littlest one from daycareThere was nowhere I could go, I had no choice but to sit there and watch it bounce off my baby. It really really sucked... I'm sure it can all be fixed, just not looking forward to the hassel and trouble of it.

Would be cool if I can get an SRT hood outta the deal. I think up to $600 outta pocket and I'm in. Like I said, hood has 4 major dents, 3 on body lines. 2 on teh scallops, one right near the rear lip on the curve. I don't think they can paintless those. And I question if even a great body shop can fix them and have those body lines right. I am going to push the adjuster hard for a new hood.

dumb question, will that hood fit an 06? I would be interested in possibly picking it up and trying to repair it if you get a new one and can keep it, would look pretty nice on my car if it will fit

I had some coming down in Bardstown. Was leaving the house and saw the weather coming....turned right back around, pulled in the garage, and switched to the beater.

I don't think that a 11/12 hood will fit a 06. If I can get it home in the van your welcome to it. I was going to take it to the recycler and try to get the price for the aluminium out of it. You can buy a brand new one for $515, and it would cost me north of $300 to get it fixed. Didn't figure there would be any room to sell it to make it worth the trouble. If you want it it's yours, otherwise to the recycler it goes.

insurance companys will call in paintless dent repair guys to push out most of the damage as long as its not chiped to save them selfs body work hours and paint cost and time...the hood will be cheaper for them to replace and blend than to body work- paint and blend.

any ding on the roof-roof header or rear hips on body seams will be body work and blend'ed
make sure they warranty their paint work..that color will be hard to blend

I'd be unstoppable if it wasnt for Physics & Law enforcement
