CLUBLX Charity Event?

I want to get some feed back from the members in regard to hosting our own annual charity car show. I was thinking of supporting a local Charity here in NJ. The Howell PBA supports OCEAN OF LOVE which is a charity for Children with Cancer in Ocean County. They help 250 kids with cancer each year with funding for treatment and to help these families overcome the huge financial burden they have to battle as well as their child's disease. I think it's a great cause to help local NJ families.
If we decide to move forward with this it's going to take some hard work and coordination by all members. Date wise I'm thinking a September show on a Sunday say 11am to 4PM or so. I would contact the Howell PBA and enlist their help as a co-sponsor of the event and offer 25% of the proceeds to go the PBA for their youth programs and 75% to Ocean of Love. This would bring broader support and interest in the show. It will require attaining Trophies sponsored by local businesses and originations, contacting LX vendors and others for Items to raffle in a Tricky Tray (Chinese auction but no one wants to call it that anymore so lets not), a 50/50 raffle and more. We would also seek the support of other car clubs for the show by announcing the event at their shows starting in the spring and in return we will support their show by attending.
So now you have my big picture. If we decide to do this we will need to have a Club meeting and start a committee to get the ball rolling. But if we do this it's going to require some work and dedication by all the members. All that said lets have some feed back so post up!
If any non-Club members or other clubs who read this post and want to be involved as supporting parties you are welcome to post here also.

It's a good idea. I'm in depending on the situation then. September is a long way away but I'm in for what I'm able to help with.

I was talking about this with one of my buddys... I wanted to set one up but as you said its alot of work.... you have the right idea & i would def be part of this... Anything i could do to help i will... I say it should be done in october b/c all the shows up here start to wind down in sept/oct.... Keep me posted via pm's for me to help out...

We are having a Club Meeting about this on the 16th to start shaping this up. So I will get back to with a update. It would be great to pull in LX guys from all over even just to attend. It would be a great gesture on behalf the whole local LX community.
