What should we do for the month of Aug.

OK peeps we now have another choice when it comes to voting so I am throwing out a few options on how we would like these contests to proceed. we now have the option to keep the vote count private till the end of voting. would you like that idea?

Please read over your options and vote for the one way you would like to see the monthly photo contest go.

1. stay the way we have it now. (private submission with public vote)

2. let us see the photos as submitted and not let us see how many votes the photos have

3. keep submissions private and keep the amount of votes private

this is also open to comments and ideas. please tell us what we can do to make this contest more fun for everyone.

This is a tough one. I really enjoyed having my entry judged anonymously this past month. But I suppose given that most of you that have been participating in this contest for the past several months have come to recognize each other's cars anyway, maybe it would be cool to try option #2...

I was wondering if on #2 you meant that you'd post the submissions anonymously as they come in to you via PM? Or open it back up for user submissions in the thread? Either way, I think I like that one! The blind tally is cool.

Here's what I meant (I think)

On #2, you could interpret it to mean a) the users still submit their entries to Matt via PM, but instead of keeping them until voting, he actually posts the entries to the thread as they come in, but not with the user's name, or b) users submit their entries to the thread themselves like in the old days.

I think #3 means that the submissions are kept hidden until voting (like last month), AND the vote tally is also hidden.

Matt's gonna shake his head at the two of us when he wakes up.

Personally, I really enjoyed coming to the thread and looking forward to viewing new submissions. I vote for #2 and I don't think there is any real point to submitting by PM. If your intention is to vote for your buddy instead of the best photo, you will recognize you buddy's vehicle.

Well, I like #2 as an option as well but I also like the idea of #3.

It was very hard waiting to see the submissions last month and it really made you work at getting the best shot that you could right off the bat cause you couldn't see what you were up against. That made me personally try a little bit harder...

I definitely like the idea of keeping vote counts hidden tho!

I'm torn. I like seeing the pix as they come in, but then you get some that are sorta duplicate shots just with a different car.
I think I'm gonna hafta go with 3. People were alot more creative this past month. And the tally definitely needs to be hidden.

#3 for me.

I agree with Chuck...you definitely work harder when you don't know what you are up against. It was very exciting to see all of the pics at once!

When you see what has been submitted, you may be given ideas that you did not come up with on your own. Each of us should be driven to be creative without "stealing" ideas from another member. While I did enjoy checking out new submissions every couple days, I feel the "all at once" method is more appropriate for a contest.

I also agree with a blind vote...for two reasons.
This was the first time I have won...it was very distracting watching the vote tally every day. I would have slept better not knowing

Second, if a certain member is lagging in votes, he can "rally the troops". A blind vote would prevent this.
