This month's theme will be: Churches
Submission Deadline: Wednesday, June 24th 2009

Just as it sounds, go out and find some Churches and get some good shots.

NEW SETUP FOR THIS MONTH! WHEN SUBMITING A PHOTO PLEASE SEND IT TO ME (Fondy) IN A PM.
THERE HAS BEEN TALK ABOUT THE SUBJECT OF POPULAR VOTES AND ALL THAT JAZZ. WHAT WE ARE GOING TO DO HERE I THINK WILL MAKE THIS CONTEST MORE FUN. YOU WILL SEND YOUR PHOTO IN A PM TO ME, I WILL KEEP THIS THREAD UP TO DATE ON HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE PHOTOS IN, BUT THATS IT. YOU WILL NOT KNOW WHO HAS TURNED IN A PHOTO.

WHEN VOTING STARTS THE PHOTOS WILL BE NUMBERED THATS IT. AFTER A WINNING PHOTO IS PICKED, YOU WILL THEN FIND OUT WHO TOOK THE PHOTO. I UNDERSTAND SOME PEOPLE WILL BE ABLE TO TELL WHOS WHO JUST FROM THE CAR, AND WE CANT HELP THAT.

SO ON WITH THE CONTEST, KINDA LIKE A SECRETE SANTA VERSION. LOL

Here's the rules, folks:

1) One entry per member, per contest.
2) Member must take photo.
3) Member's LX must be in the photo.
4) Photograph must be taken for this contest - no previous shots allowed.
5) Photo shopping is not allowed except for modifying the license plate, brightness and contrast, and crop/resize.
6) Maximum size - 800 x 600. Oversize photos will not be allowed. Resizing available if needed.
7) The winner will be responsible for deciding upon the theme of the following month's contest, and is not eligible to participate in that contest.

Submissions should be sent to FONDY in a PM, any time through Wednesday, June 24th. Submissions posted elsewhere will not be counted.

Voting will begin on a separate thread as soon as the submission deadline passes.

So get out your camera, and find some Churches that people would like to see.

I am leaving this thread open to discusion, please do not post any photos for this months contest here, I will just delete them.

So, what does everyone think about the theme? What do you think about the style of Submitting?

I like the style of submitting, but I'm not fond of this month's theme...it's broader than last month's. "National Landmarks", "Historic Landmarks", "Natural Landmarks", "Architectural Landmarks"...all examples of ways to narrow things down a bit.

I'll miss viewing the submissions as they come in.

Too bad it had to come to this, I'm afraid that the resulting voting thread will be rather anti-climatic.

I think this is a great idea. This is how Worth1000.com does it as well for their photoshop contests.

Originally, I was going to pick something very specific such as churches, prisons or architectural masterpieces. I decided to make it much broader for two reasons (1) to make the playing field equal – not every town has an architectural masterpiece or prison; and (2) I thought it would be great to see where people are from (be it a picture of the Statue of Liberty if your from NY or The Peanut sign if your from Fort Smith, AR. However, based on the comments, I can see some of you need guidance therefore I choose churches (lol).

Great submission idea. Voting time may need to be increased.
You can also tactfully cull the entries that violate the rules.

If the theme is change to churches, count me out as of the 7 churches in my town, not one single one is worth wasting my time to take pictures of - they are all in either bad locations to safely stage a shot or in a building that looks more like a high school (because thats what it is mon~fri). If you stick with "landmarks" in general, I have a few shots in mind.
