This forum is the best thing ever! We have met so many great people and made some lifetime friends. It has truly changed our lives.
This photo contest has been so much fun for us. Gives us a great reason to go out and take a drive, we love to drive. Heck we went from SoCal to S.F. to take pictures for the contest when the theme was bridges.
I want to thank whoever came up with this photo contest idea, it really is great fun. We have been involved with the contest for 1 year now and this is our 2nd win!
The pic for January was taken across the street from Pink's Hot Dogs. The area is not too bad, at least you don't need a gun or a body guard!.LOL It's on a long wall in an alley behind a car wash. We were able to park there for quite a time and take a gazillion pics from every which way and exposure. I think the graffiti was professionally done by CBS, but the locals have added there own touch to the windows of the building, at least they didn't mess up the wall. rsmeanie gave me the idea, he posted it in the announcement thread, so I really have to give him props for the idea and location, thanks Raymond!
We actually had three different theme interpretation/places, one at Leo Carillo Beach, there is a tunnel there that has been painted extensively, not so much ghetto, but we thought we might be able to make it work. The second was the wall across from Pink's and the third was a run down building that was really in the ghetto.
After the Pink's shoot we decided to drive down Washington Blvd towards downtown and see what we could find ghetto. We found a dead end street with this very ghetto looking building and took a lot of shots there. That place was a little scary, we did not belong there and we got quite a few strange looks from people driving by. Here are the other two locations......

Next months theme will be "My LX/LC in Winter". Everyone should be able to participate, even those in storage or garaged. Looking for what you feel winter and your car are all about. Hope you all have fun with this!!! And again, thank you, I can't tell you how good it feels to be part of this!
