Below is a repost what antolod posted here2008 Route 66 Fest
I think the ReJx should attend. I personally would shoot for Saturday.
Let's get our **** together and go have some fun and enjoy some damn cars!!!
Put your name on a list here if you will be attending...
September 26-28, 2008
Springfield, IL
Well folks, I know September is still 4 months away, but it's time to start getting your reservations made. The online registration system is up and working, I made mine just a few minutes ago. The cost for registration is $40 plus a $3 fee for processing, I imagine for online registration only. Registration admits the vehicle, driver and passenger and children under 15. Attendance for spectators is free, so actually the registration is only for the car I would think.
Here is the link for the "official site". They are using a new promoter this year called Family Events, so don't be alarmed by the different look of the web page. The official show schedule is available here. Be sure to check it out.
The line up area for the Friday night cruise is the Capitol City Shopping Center this year at 5:00 with the cruise departing that location at 6:00. We wil be meeting up at a parking lot at 4:00 near there so we can all get in line together. I will post a link/map later for that location.
Once again, my boss will be "sponsoring" free car washes for us. If you want to be able to take advantage of this to get the bugs washed off your car, plan on arriving in Springfield by 2:00 to allow time to get checked in and cleaned before the cruise.
Here is the link for Hotel Info with phone numbers and prices in a pdf. There is a variety of prices, but the Hilton and Abraham Lincoln are right downtown next to the show. I know a few people who will be staying at the Hilton Springfield Hotel, (217-789-1530 - $109.00 plus tax) I have had that reservation for a couple of months already. The Hilton group rate block is all booked.
This will be the 4th year for us attending this show. It's a great way to spend a fall weekend checking out all of the really nice cars. The Friday night cruise in is a lot of fun, with locals lining the streets for miles to watch all the sweet rides rolling in. People come from all over to attend or participate in this show. Last year, AGGOST won one of the 3 "Best in Class, Chrysler" trophies. Let's represent the LX community with a huge turn out.
Here is a link to last year's picture thread for those who may have missed it and want to see more of what this show is about.
