So my builder is probably gonna use that intercooler on his RX-7 hes building and im gonna order one thats 3'' thick this time. Gonna go with a 24x12x3. Id get one that uses the front air damn in the bumper but i've got tow hooks. And I use em lol. And Im tryin to get away without cutting anything.

Do you guys know where to get those air filters that look like half of a foam ball? They're real low profile and I dont have enough room to fit a normal filter. We're talkin like maybe 5'' between the inlet for the turbo and the back of my headlight.

BTW heres a pic of how I plan on doing the new intercooler. This is a pic of Hemifevers truck. The left side that has the 90* elbow that runs straight into a 45* is what I plan to do on both sides as I dont have room to fit a pipe by my headlight like he did
Treadstone has options of same side facing outlets and opposite facing outlets.

I really like the treadstone intercoolers but I just cant swing the cash for one right now. The new intercooler I ordered was only 170 bucks and for now should work fine.

    And heres an update pic

Biggest part left to do is drop the oil pan and run the charge pipes which will probably be friday or saturday. New intercooler will be here friday morning hopefuly according to FedEx

More than likely haha. I can do it with the iems3 but I havent had time to play with the software yet, and my tuning knowledge is limited to a few fuel adjustments with my diablo lol

I appreciate that, but im just gonna use my predator to datalog and for tranny control (yikes). Theres a shop not too far away from me that deals with the iEMS3 should I have trouble.

And my intercooler finally showed up. But it didnt show up till it was too late to do anything with it.. yay fedex

The core is a 24x12x3'' so it should fit and look more proportional than the other one that didnt fit

Forgot to update. Everything is done except for a section of the DP and the intercooler piping. Im waiting on o2 extension wires and had to make some really ****ty ones which surprisingly worked lol. Yesterday the oil supply NPT broke and trashed the line, so today got a new one and hunted down some elbows and got it all working. No leaks or anything

    intercooler pipe mock up

    My ****ty extension wires lol

And an Idle video. IT LIVES (BTW my cell phone takes crap video and then photobucket turns it into even worse quality. But the sound is alright lol)

You have done a great job, I wouldn't be able to do something like that if my life depended on it and since I don't know how I do have a question.

Is there a reason you put the turbo so far forward? It looks like there is room a bit farther in and then you may be able to get a filter on the end. As is you may have to just go with a flat wire mess.

Again, this is in no way a knock on how you did it as I wouldn't be able to do that fab myself, just wondering...

I wish I could fab stuff up and weld as well. I met this guy through a friend that does this stuff on the side and he gave me a great deal. But he said he put it like that cause of the weird angle the DP had to run to clear the cab and AC condenser thing, im gonna put a 90* elbow on it so I can get a filter on. Originally he had it sitting up higher so you couldnt get anything on the end of the turbo and I told him thats not gonna fly cause i've gotta fit a filter on it, so he chopped it down some. Id still like it a little farther back, but it'll work where it is. Can always change it later on down the road. But for now, i just want it back and running lol
