    Vortech Track Results

    Well, I got to the track today and got 5 passes in before it got too crowded. The temp was in the low 60s, pretty good for Florida. My best pass was 12.1 @ 114.5. The car hooked very well as I had 3/4 of a tank of gas and about 150lbs in the trunk. My 60' was 1.9 and I was running regular street tires.

    Nice!, Sounds very potent! I don't understand all the extra weight and gas on board, I hate to tell ya that kept you out of the eleven's. But the season is very young!

    I actually thought traction would be a problem so the weight would help me, but I didn't spin at all so I think you are right and I could have eliminated some weight and gotten a better time. The day was really starting to warm up and the lines were getting long so maybe next time.

    You'll get it next time, I had good results with 20psi in the backs, light car, heat the dry tires a little. I know you have to feather the gas pedal with the blower. Good luck!

    Good job...nice 60's...I need to get mine down..I can't get below 2.09 on street tires...So my best has only been 12.4. but my MPH was a bit higher 117.

    Good times for sure...way to represent!

    Thanks man. My tune is very conservative right now. It actually dipped below 10:1 on the pass. I think there is some mph left in the tune.

    Very nice for a simple bolt on. Guys keep in mind the boost levels alone will not kill a shortblock. Its the potential for detonation and most of that potential can be mitigated with a great tune. With that said, I will tell you that 10psi and 10+ compression is RIGHT ON THE EDGE of what you can get away with on 93 Octane in our cars. And that is with a conservative timing curve. Hope you are logging the hell out that car to keep an eye on PT/WOT knock retard. I would only see 1-2deg KR at 9-10 psi, however once I downsized the pulley a bit and kicked it up to 12psi I saw a rise in the KR (4-5deg) that required race gas at the track to keep things in check.

    Not that I am recommending 10psi on with the relatively thin ringlands we have in our cars (read: quite a gamble here) but I would have no problem seeing our motors live a long life if it has a impeccable tune and a properly set up water/meth inj and perhaps most importantly, someone who can recognize when they are having detonation issues.
