Let's hear from the Procharger owners!

Yeah, I know, I've been starting a huge number of FI related threads.. Just trying to get as much info as I can before I make the leap/spend the wife's cash.

There's been quite a bit of info on the Vortech kits, most of which has been very positive. I just can't seem to get passed how the cooler mounts on top of the engine. Just doesn't mesh well.

There hasn't been alot of information from Procharger owners. How do you guys like your kits? Ease of installation? could a rookie do it? Do they have good instructions for pinning the crank? Dynos? Timeslips?

    Any procharger info is welcomed!

People are going with Vortech for a reason. If you dont like the "cooler" on top then the Paxton stuff is great. Saw a Procharger kit on a Charger a couple months ago for testing and its really bottom of the line for our cars. If you ask most people who install/daily drive them, you will hear, "the headunit rocks while the kit is very lacking". Belt slippage was/is a common issue with Procharger (not sure if their new brackets or whatever have fixed it). There was already a discussion about all the kits, so maybe a search will help out a little more.

If you want to tweak and tweak a kit for maximum results, then Procharger might be for you. With Vortech and the Novi's, its install it and go and make a crapload of power.

I've worked with them all, but Procharger customer service is next to none. Even though I have a Paxton installed on my personal vehicle, I put a piece of tape over the Paxton label. That's how much I think of their customer service. I'll be switching back over to Procharger very soon.

I have a Vortech kit and the aftercooler was an issue that I had to get past too. The bottom line for me is that its function (fast) first, pretty second. Vortech's blowers and kits are well proven on other car lines. By the way, my IAT temps are only 10 degrees above ambient with the Vortech aftercooler and it looses less boost than an air to air cooler.

Very nice... I don't usually show off the underside of the hood anyway, so I really don't know why the looks of the unit is hard for me to get by.

I'm really leaning toward the Vortech right now, but I think I'm going to hold out a bit longer and see what pans out from SMS, RDP, and possibly PPP.

I dont want to hijack the thread, so if you have a problem with me posting this I can delete it to just keep it Procharger specific.

I will have a T3/T4 turbo with 2k miles for sale soon as I am going with a different setup. What you could do is buy a CIS kit w/o the turbo and I could sell you my turbo for cheaper than it would cost you from CIS. Just another idea to add to your list of options

Almost every statement in this post is false.

I have not heard from any customer about belt slip. Not one. So if you have experience with this or can show me someone that is having this problem please let me know.

Looking at both of these pictures I don't see how you are saying the systems are low quality.

I have had nothing but Luck with Pro-Chargers from Day one of this kit being released and I would run a Pro-Charger any day of the week. My issue is I'm a whore when it comes to F/I I like to try all of them and to date I have installed Both Kits from Both Manufacturers and I cannot say One Over the other at this point. What I will say is I have More Pro-Chargers and Vortech's out there then anyone posting on this board and if you want a good kit call me.

I'm going to be doing this installation myself, and I'm not the best mechaniac (spelling intentional) around. Do both kits come with good installation instructions, including how to pin the crank?

Right now it's a dead even race between the Procharger and the Vortech. Quality of installation instructions will probably be the tie breaker.

i have a procharger kit on a srt8 charger i love mine i did not like the idea of using the factory belt with the vortech kit and pining my crank pully the procharger kit has it own belt with a ati crank dampaner it did 510 to ground but that was after many pulles and car was very hot
ran a 11.9 in 1/4 but was spining half way down the track

Just remember, there is a reason that there are more Vortech kits out there than anything else, as has been stated already in this thread. You called for ProCharger owners to speak up and so far, I have heard form only one (just now), other than John who has installed a number of them. I know of only one person (personally) who has one and he does like it, it is nice, and it does make power. However, there is a real lack of something in this respect if you can hardly get a single person to chime in on its behalf.

If you made a calling to Vortech owners, then this thread would be flooded with responses. Countless people on this board were part of their R&D program, and almost every other day I see somebody post that they just got one or have one on order.

Customer service does go a long way though, and I have heard good things about ProCharger in that respect. However, I can also personally vouch for Vortech as well on that. I wanted to have my kit on in time for the LX & Beyond meet in Ohio and they overnighted it to me on a Tuesday afternoon, saw it Wednesday morning at 9am. Then it was completely installed by the end of that day, and at the tuner by the following day, all in time for me to leave for Ohio on Friday morning.

Furthermore, Vortech is offering the 3 year/36,000 mile powertrain warranty with their product if you use their canned tune. ANd if you really plan to install it yourself and dont have a tuner on hand, this would be ideal. Always nice to know that someone has your back in case things go south for any reason.

Lastly, the aftercooler was something big that I had to overcome as well. Since the 5.7s have an engine cover and mine was airbrushed, it was a tough decision to cut it almost in half in order to keep it on. However, I have grown used to it and actually kinda like the look of it now. But if you really wanna get crazy, you can always order the Vortech kit and put an intercooler in instead of the after-cooler..... thats what Injected Engineering did with their 426 Charger with a Vortech. Just a thought.

Exactly! So that tells you right there, they just arent out there right now..... and why do you suppose that is? There kit has been out for a long time now, you would think alot more 5.7 guys would be chiming in at this point. I know the 6.1 kit hasnt been out for very long, but people wanting to put a ProCharger on could have done it on their own with enough willingness (thats what CMJ did, fabbed a 5.7 ProCharger kit to fit on a 6.1).

Im not here trying to attack anyone, just merely stating the facts. I would like to know why there arent more of them out there myself. Like I said, I have seen one in person and wanted one for a long time, but clearly I have gone a different route since then.
