Exclamation The Great Supercharger Bake off!

Time to put some apples to apples comparisons.

    Who has the best product?
How much does the kit cost plus labor and tuning?

    !) RDP, Bullet-Harrop
    2) Paxton
    3) Vortech
    4) SMS
    5) Procharger
    6)

So if anyone can cut and past all other known S/C'r coming to market.

I am getting closer to making some biG power addersto my car

I must say the RDP is the sexiest but I think its like 10k I'd say the vortech is the best kit available for us right now if you want to take price into consideration. The sms kit will be a awesome kit if it comes out and it is what they say it is.

interesting thread. I am trying to decide between a super charger and a stroker. So I would be looking for an SC around the same price as a stroker, since I heard they net around the same HP.....

I'd go stroker and make sure you get one that can take lots of boost that way when you save up the money you can slap on a blower and get some real hp out of it.

yea that makes sense. I guess with a stock engine with a SC you can only run so much boost before oyu have probs. And since I have n2o, probably best to beef up everything inside first to make sure its safe and can run crazy boost later

I can see that this is going to turn into a "Which heads/cam?" thread. I think you'll find that most people are happy with their purchase and will support whichever they've bought.

The real question is whether you want a centrifugal or twin screw blower. If you want centrifugal your choices are Vortech, Paxton, or Procharger. If you want a twin screw/Roots style blower, you're looking at RDP, Harrop, and SMS.

I have a Vortech centrifugal and love it. The kit has excellent fitment and fit/finish. Paxton (owned by Vortech) does not produce a true bolt-on kit for the HEMI. Procharger is working on their bolt-on kit for LXs.

The Vortech kit should cost you $5500-$6000. Labor to install should run somewhere around $500-800. Tuning will cost you about $1000, plus gauges.

It takes a LOT of work, logs, hours, and skill to tune a boosted LX.

I dunno I just think the vortech is ugly, then again I dont like the air filter placement of the procharger. Are there any pros/cons to the twin screw or centrifigal? I tried a search but didnt really find what I was looking for.

got you ok, well then that answers that. I'd think the install would cost more then tuning.

Do you think some of the tranny upgrades coming out will eliminate this...or at least keeping things below 550 hp?
