Finally got the Vortech on the track!

Well we installed the first production Vortech 6.1L kit on my SRT8 back in August...and I now have almost 6000 miles on my car with the kit. The car is my daily driver and is still s blast to drive, and have had no issues to date.

Unfortunately, our local track was closed for renovations and just reopened last month. With all of the things we have been testing on Lisa's new Challenger I hadn't made it to the track yet, so Saturday was the first time.

My goal was not to set the world on fire but simply get a feel for the track with the new setup, I made quite a few passes, the temp was about 70-80 degrees for most of the day.

My current setup is basically a Stock SRT8, with only a Cat Back, no other drivertrain mods.
Vortech Supercharger System, with Vortech's canned tune, we have not tweaked or touched anything. No drag radials, no upgraded half shafts, no cam/heads etc. Just a plain jane SRT w/ a Vortech bolted on. This was done on purpose, we wanted to get some miles on the car with this setup, since this is what most of our customers will be using. For the same reason we wanted to know how the car would do at the track in this trim.
My best run of the day was:

    60 ft: 2.081
    330': 5.516
    1/8 Mile: 8.275
    1/8 MPH: 88.45
    1000 ft: 10.661
    1/4 Mile: 12.653
    1/4 MPH: 113.75

There is alot more in the car even without tuning or drag radials...I was very easy on the lanches, probably wasn't WOT until well past 330 foot. My tires were street radials that were 35psi, and almost bald. This is why you see the run much faster at the tail end of the track. This will easily be low 12's with better DA, and better lanches, with tuning and D/R's 11's should not be unattainable.

Now we need some D/R's and better 60's then on to tuning.

Or I could just have Lisa drive the car...that will be good for a fewtenths....
as you can see in my sig...twisties are more my thing....John Force I am not!

kudos on the run and getting some seat time with this setup

Nice mph and oh yeah, plenty more there to run 11.8-12.1 easy. How much boost are you pushing now?

BTW, very cool methodology for getting real world results for a lot of folks perusing the s/c world.

    Hats off to you!

I should add...that I was running 13.4-13.6 on average at the same track prior to the Vortech...So at this point I have picked at least second.

Great job getting her out on the track and doing the first good shake down with the current set-up. It was great to see you running, and for just cruising down with bald tires, you did a very nice job!! There's definitely a lot left, and by the time we throw on some new tires you'll be able to use more of that Vortech power ... then comes the DRs, axles and a custom tune!!

BTW, thanks for giving up your previous track time to help me test the Chally stuff!

You will have alot easier time getting teh 60 foot times down...so on street tires I expect you to be quicker!

    Just a little update...
Went to the track on Wednesday.
Still no D/R's, Halfshafts, or Custom Tune.

However I did run a new best 12.48 @ 117 MPH. This is on bald street tires with a 2.09 60 foot time. Can't go WOT until well past the 60' mark. With traction I should see low 12's or high 11's as is...not to bad for just a S/C with canned tune on an otherwise stock SRT8!
