    Dyno Charts

Has anyone seen a Chart of a Vortech Supercharged 6.1 with the Vortech tune? If so could you post it? Anybody at Vortech willing to post one up?

It would be great to see a chart with MotherMopars curve and Rick's curve plotted on the same graph so we could easily see how they compare and where each are making more power.

Judging from the results of MotherMopars test runs I'd guess the Vortech is only making more power for a very short time, very high up in the RPM's, and since they tuned it so rich, and pulled timing over the entire powerband to ensure the engine wouldn't detonate, I'd also guess that Rick's car is making more power/torque until that point.

Mine went on today - the car did a Dynojet pull before and after the blower install. Prior to the blower install the car had a factory tune, AFE Stage II and Magnaflow cat-back.

Here's the overlay of the graphs.

The car pulls _very_ hard and also shifts quite aggressively (pretty easy to break the tires loose from 1-2nd and also bark 3rd) which was a surprise hearing the comments of others. I'm just thrilled and can't wait to get out and drive the car more!

Wow! That's not at all what I thought the curve's would look like. Way more torque and horsepower down low then I thought. I wonder why this only translates into a one car advantage over the quarter mile?

Indymagsrt...have you run your car at the quarter mile before, or have some way of quantifying the real world gains like a buddy that you used to be even with in a street race that you could race again and see the results?

I haven't run the car at the quarter before I got the Vortech, would have been interesting!

I do plan on taking it out to the strip in the next couple of weeks - the power comes on VERY smooth and is there from about 2000rpm+.

104 HP gain on 5.5 psi. *Very* nice. Is the above chart with a CMR tune, or is it the canned tune they ship with the kit? If that's a canned tune... wow, it's a very nice one, for sure.

This thread is making it harder and harder for me to hold out for the RDP Avenger harrop...

Yup - canned tune! I'm beginning to wonder if Vortech did in fact make a different tune for the Cali-cars, because this tune shifts _hard_ and does not seem at all like the one I heard comments on earlier.

I'm very glad I got the kit. The only complaint I have is that the headunit is almost TOO quiet!

Looking at the air/fuel ratio I'd say that this tune is definately different then the Cali guys! They said there aif/fuel was in the high 10's to low 11's which is very rich (safe). Your air/fuel is 13.25-1...that's dangerously lean for an unbuilt (forged) motor, and unless your pulling ungodly amounts of timing I'd say you may want to get a CMR ASAP. At that level if you have a very small margin of safety, and one bad tank of gas can make thigs go boom when there not supposed to.

Do you have a bung welded on the exhaust for a wideband meter, or did they use a "sniffer" in the tail pipe?

Nice, we haven't had ours on the dyno w the canned tune yet, so it is nice to see some #'s. I agree that I think the Cali tunes were extra safe for the smog standards etc. My car never has had the issues the R&D guys seemed to have...it has PLENTY of power. I think being in Cali plays a big role.
We will have some #'s soon w the canned tune vs a CMR tune.

Yup - the A/F ratio was noticed. It was measured through sniffers. The consensus was that since the it's only running low boost it should be OK, but I'll definitely touch base with Vortech to make sure, I'd much rather be on the safe side of things. Will most likely get a custom CMR tune, too.

ill try and get my dyno sheet up soon. i just got my car back yesterday. i havent even had a chance to examine the sheet myself. but the power feels very linear right up from 2250rpm.

and whoever said the whine was too quiet. was dead on. my exhaust completely drowns out the sound of the S/C.

not sure if anyone else noticed this. but my car felt like it was shifting early,(5500rpm) and like it didnt gain much power at first. i raced a stock charger SRT8 from a 75mph roll. and he got on the throttle a blip quicker than me. and i had a hard time running him down after that. but after a few hundred km. my car now feels much faster, and doesnt have a problem pulling hard, on the same charger SRT8.

does vortech have something built into the tune, that pulls alot of timing in the first few hours of the tune being loaded. just to get the car used to the blower??

i was a little dissapointed that i couldnt raise my redline, and shift points, with the canned vortech tune. i guess thats all part of being able to get a powertrain warranty with a blower.

heres my vortech dyno sheet. the loop back at the end of the run, is from the autostick, shifting on its own.
