    90mm tb + procharger?

while im waiting for my srt challenger to be here i was thinking about going ahead and gettin my mod list together i wanna spend about 10k but need to be able to do most of the work myself. i dont really feel comfortable going inside the engine or even doing full longblock swap myself so im kinda learning towards a procharger. my question is how should a ported intake and 90mm tb help the gains of the sc? car will also have a full exhaust on it just wondering more about the gains on those two mods + boost

*edit becuse i suck at spelling

OK, I had the whole 90mm TB and supercharger thing explained to me by a vendor here, so I will do my best to explain what he said when I asked about it...

Originally, I thought just like you did in that the two products would be a wicked combo. However, a vendor (who actually retails the 90mm TB) informed that a TB really wouldnt be that much more effective than stock because with a supercharger on hand, air is being FORCED in. So it really doesnt matter how big of an opening its going into because the same amount of air is still being pushed in.

However, without a supercharger, air is being SUCKED in, whcih is where the TB is supposed to be the most effective.

Follow me? And this vendor is a retailer of both products, so for him to tell me that it really wouldnt be that effective means he was shooting straight from the hip and beign honest about it.... not just trying to make a sale ont wo products, like he could have.

Hope that helps and it sounds clear to you.

If you are saving your pennies and want to do it right, buy a forged short block and then supercharge. This will allow you to do it right and not be restricted by the stock pistons.

The price of the throttle body, heads and ported intake isnt much different than a forged 6.1 bottom end and I think it is cheaper.

Forget the 90mm throttle body. The output diameter of the blower is your restriction.

Again... every point in a fluid's path of travel is a restriction. It's additive, not a "bottleneck" scenario. Increasing the throttle body diameter will allow more air to reach the valves. Now, if the valves are already getting more air blasted to them then they can let into the engine, that would be your "restriction." But more pressure behind the air will mean more air flow.

Do like FlybyU said. Forge the bottom end and change the cam. Dollar for dollar it is the safest and the highest ratio of power you will get. The supercharger will compensate for all intake restrictions nothing else needed. Ooops, free flowing exhaust is real important.
