6.1L x 12psi = 625/595 and 10's @ 128+
Hey guys just checking in with a quick dyno pull and some track times with the new combo.
After owning the car for a few months I managed to sort things out fairly well over several trips to the track, setting the 6.1 Power adder record Of course the proud father (Hemi31) couldn't have been more pleased.
However, several issues crept up.....some of them self induced.
1st the original water to air aftercooler was causing IATs to go through the roof..... so I moved to a front mount air to air...problem solved.
Then I decided to do some math and realized I was leaving something on the table with the 3in drive pulley on the Novi 1500. So like any other maniac I put the smallest pulley that would get me to the 58,000 rpm redline associated with the S/C given my 6200 shift points. I ended up with 2.62" pulley and a ****-ton more low/midrange torque (self induced problem).
Which brings up the next two problems......first I was running out of fuel by 5000 rpms. By running out I mean, pump couldn't hack it and my SRT4 stage II's are out of fuel. So, I dove in and redesigned the stock set up to take a second pump, provide more volume@higher pressures, but retain stock type fuel return/enclosed basket design.
Problem solved through increased volume but bigger inj are still going to be necessary.
Needless to say Lafrad handled all the tuning duties with ease......over email.

Now while I was solving all my other issues the internals of the tranny were quickly being reduced to a burnt up slurry of metal goo at the bottom of the pan. After four track sessions, numerous street miles as a daily driver the clutch packs finally gave up and I had to limp mode home @ 35mph for 17 miles through downtown D.C. So.....on to tranny number two. Original tranny now being rebuilt again, my replacement tranny is already showing signs of fatigue. Fixing this has become priority number one. Two possible solutions.... 1st and cheapest will be to reduce power on the shift either in the tune or modulating the boost via vac solenoids (more to follow) or squirrel away some money for a real tranny that can hold the power being produced.
It is worth noting here, that in an effort to improve the shifting situation I upgraded to the MTCM which gave me an instant 2-3mph due to increased holding power. From there I upgraded to the B&G TCM, again another solid increase in holding power on the shift but at this point the internals of the stock NAG1 are not up to the task. Still seeing massive slippage on the 2-3 but much less on the 3-4 than before. 1-2 is rock solid.
So with everything except the tranny sorted out it was time to get back to the track for some boost only runs to see how the car likes the new fuel/iintercooler/fresh tranny. Running in some real nice air the car responded rather well.
Best run of the day was a 10.76 @ 127.43 on a 1.63 60'.....backed up by no less than 9 more 10.7 to 10.9 timeslips all in the 126-128 mph. Boost only, 4450 race weight. They shut us down to 1/8 for the last run of the day due to track conditions.....but I managed to squeak out a 1.55 60' on that one (thanks to FlybyU for his Hoosier hand me downs
) Of course all that had me thinking hmmmmm solid 10's on boost....I wonder what that 125 shot would do for me.
Brought the car up to Atco for the last racing event of the year....hoping to throw a bit of juice into the mix. Unfortunately track conditions reduced Atco to a virtual ice skate rink for most of us. First run was a spin hook, spin, limp mode. 2nd run, spin through 1st/2nd...hit the juice a a couple secs in 4th once it was hooked up... 12.20 @ 129mph
. Last run of the day, still came out spinning to a 1.84 60', 10.83 @ 129.59. No joy.
Sooooooooo, today I managed to get a few long over due dyno pulls finally (you happy Erik?). Overall, I am pleased with the numbers given the heat soaked condition, but as you can see from the curve the tranny wasn't feeling it. Car was fighting the dyno the whole way. I picked up some hp/tq from shutting the ESP fully off via the pred but still seemed to be some tc lock or possibly slippage issues during the pull. AFR were mostly in the low to mid 10's......however the cloud of raw fuel in the air was burning out eyes so I think its safe to say I can still pull some fuel out. No doubt a full dyno tune is in this car's future.
Results 625rwhp / 595 rwtq, ambient air aprox 70deg, IAT ranged from 85-120deg. We tried a N2O pull but the engine became very angry.....massive KR, reducing timing to 7 deg at WOT, car fell flat so we let out right away. I think I heard it say more octane please.

Lastly, it would be a crime if I didn't thank you all for the help/advice/sanity checks over the last few months. Stay tuned...more to come.
