Hello everyone
I just finished installing my Zex nitrous kit, but i have a couple questions if someone can help me please.
Q1: Does the NMU cutoff the flow of nitrous when i am shifting or do i have to let go of the pedal, shift then give full throttle?
Q2: would it be a good idea to arm the system at WOT after i shift to second gear? and is it safe to arm it when I'm going 180MPH?
Please help me i am clueless![]()
1) No, the NMU will not cut off during shifts, but you do not have have to let off the throttle either. If you want to kill the spray between shifts, you will want to order a window switch.
2) You can flick it on after the 1-2 shift, but it's not necessary. I would only do that if traction is a severe problem. No, do not spray at 180, or in 5th for that matter. I wouldn't spray in 4th for long either. Stress on the engine to accelerate the car increases with each higher gear, and nitrous will only compound the issue.
My SRT is a hybrid. It runs on copious amounts of nitrous and fuel.
If you had a forged motor and were running in the Texas mile, you could probably spray for the whole mile. 180 MPH is hauling the mail! Having a motor grenade at 180, sounds like a bad idea all around.

Thank you for replying, wouldn't shifting with nitrous damage the engine? (i am running with auto up shift) thanks for warning me about spraying in 5th gear.
The thing is that we in Saudi Arabia don't have drag strips, we race in straight lines usually from 25 MPH to 150 MPH, and everyone attempts to achive the highest top speed. Mine is 301KM/H (187 MPH) that's why i wanted to spray at 180 MPH. thank you for replying

1) No, spraying through a shift will not damage the engine, but it will theoretically be harder on the transmission. However, the last poll on here indicated that most people simply sprayed through the shift and did not have any issues. How much are you spraying?
2) Given the speed at which you race, I would recommend some type of programmable window switch with gear control, then programming out 5th and probably 4th, depending on how much you're spraying. Personally, I wouldn't want to be reaching for the arming switch to turn it off at those speeds.
I'm spraying a 125 shot, if its going to affect the transmission its not going to be a problem i have a stage 2 valve body and about to get the AMG clutches from builder bill, also i have another NAG1 lying around.
I would probably order one, but the 2 week waiting period sucks.
Thank you so much for your help
