    Nitrous problem

I finally finished installing the zex kit on the car last week.
Programed the control unit.Held the throttle blade wide open for 10 sec. Even checked voltage with the throttle blade open and closed.

Took it for a drive and didn't feel anything .(75 shot).
Friday took it to the track and nothing.

Here's what i tried so far.
Bottle pressure is at 1000 or so. I have 2 gauges hooked up right now.
    Purge is working great.
Friday at the track - car off - intake off -nitrous armed i opened the throttle blade to WOT and the solenoid clicked but no nitrous.

Today after car sat overnight I opened the bottle -purged -armed the system with intake off - opened the throttle blade and I got nitrous spraying. Ok lets go for a drive.

Drove the car - flipped the switch at WOT and nothing.

Took the intake off again - armed system - opened throttle blade - no spray only a click of the solenoid.

    What gives ???
RIP nhDave - Never forgotten, my friend

Sounds to me like a loose electrical connection somewhere. Or even a bad ground

hmmm, let me get some more info. So you have your n2o hooked up on 12 volt constant? First off, I would change that, because if the n2o ever sprays into the engine with the car off you could have a serious problem. Hook that NMU up to switched power.

Try recalibrating the throttle blade. Most people program the NMU to see WOT with the blade about 90% open. People have had problems with the n2o pulsing and not working at all when the NMU is programmed at a full 100%. Try that first.

Did you use the resistor in the white wire on the TB? If so, take that off, people have problems with those things.

I also think the NMU is programmed to not like n2o flow through if it doesnt see the correct fuel pressure, so I would check the fuel lines and again, make sure the car is on.

The zex kit is easy to install and works pretty well, im sure its something small that you are over looking. You sure your grounds are all solid and connections tight?

you wrote that as I was writing my long rant Yes check your grounds and power wires. This may also sound dumb but make sure your bottle is open too. I have had someone go through the same thing and he found out his bottle wasnt open during all of this.

    Bottle was open.
It is hooked up to the switch to arm it.
I did not use the resistor wire.
Arming switch is hooked up to the cig. lighter wire.(I have couple other switches hooked up there as well - possible problem?).

how do I check to see if ground is good?

I know you said that your bottle pressure was 1000 or so. Is it highter than 1000? Zex says anything over 1100 and the soleniod plunger valve locks closed. Maybe you can purge down to get the pressure in the 900s. I don't have the Zex kit so I am not much help.

I agree here. If you were over 1000, this could be your issue.

First... I was pretty disappointed in the 75 shot. Even 100 shot isn't the slam you in the seat you see in the movies. So level set your expectations.

Second... Do a test spray. take the nozzle out and duck tape it so that it sprays into a plastic bottle. (anchor the bottle down because the hose pressure will make it flap around.

start the car, arm the system, and just floor it at idle... it should spray for a split second.

If not... you have an issue somewhere.

Does your purge work? if not... check for clogs in your hoses. Disconnect and have someone hold one end. open the bottle... that should blast out whatever is in there.

In his first post he says that "the purge is working great".

Try what Random said with the test spraying into bottles. Make sure to tie everything down.

yea the 75 shot is pretty disapointing for sure. the movies messed up my expectations for me. I could barely even feel it. The 100 shot you can feel, but it isnt "crazy" or anything. With my car, I can hear the n2o firing if I have the window down, so maybe you just dont feel the 75 shot firing, and htink it isnt working. Try the bottle trick, then try going with the window down and see what happens.

I hear ya . . the 75 shot won't be much of a, "throw you into your seat" kick but you should notice the RPM's jump quick once it hits. Took off about 8/10ths on my time when I was near stock.

I can purge fine.It works at all times.

I did the test spray just with the car off and intake off. It sprays nitrous when I open the throttle plate.
I went for a drive come back do the same test spray and nitrous is not spraying.
I only hear the NMU click when I open throttle blade.

I will check pressure again and make sure it's below 1000.

    Hey Chris,

I am fairly new to the N2O crowd but have run about 10-12 bottles through my system and I usually run between 1100-1150 for pressure with no problem. It is usually around 1100 though. Good Luck and keep us posted.

then one of two things is happening. You need to re learn the NMU to fire when your TB blade is 90% open, not 100%, or it actually is spraying and you just dont feel it :(
