Nitorus Express vs. ZEX Kit vs. Nitrous Outlet

I know the information is out there that the guys running nitrous know the answer to this question.

Which kit is best for our cars? The Nitrous Express or ZEX or Nitrous Outlet?

I know the Nitrous Express kit allows you to spray more than ZEX and contol it with a progressive controller or with a window switch. The ZEX kit is in a neat box that splices into the applicable electonics, this kit can only spray up to 125 (correct me if im wrong) and can only run a window switch. The Nitorus Outlet kit is similar to the Nitrous Express kit with ability to spray more and ability to apply a progressive controller or window switch. Also which bottle heater is better the automatic shutoff at correct temp or manually controlled? Which bottle remote bottle opener is the best? Does the A/F shut off monitor actually work on the stock A/F meter?

Please explain which is a better kit or setup to run on these cars.

I've got a simple Nitrous Express kit. The bottle heater shuts off when correct bottle pressure is reached. I'm old fashioned, but I like to control the shot by hitting a button that I put in the console, I filled the little tray and put the arming switch there also. If you go bigger than a 150 shot you may need to upgrade your fuel system. All of the manufactures have a hotline with people that will help you design your system.

I'm going with nitrous outlet at the moment, they have great customer service and answered all my questions. They seem to know what they doing, plus you can catch them on the forum. Nitro Dave gets my vote.

they have good service as well as dynotunenitrous.com, who I think has one of the best bottle heaters. Check them out as well

I have to agree with sinister on the bottle warmer. I have the Dynotune with pressure regulator and it is the best. Heats up VERY fast and maintains whatever pressure you want. Great choice.

As for N2O systems, I have the Zex. Absolutely no probs. They also have excellent customer service. Easy install, clean look. Your choice.

If excessive pressure is built up in the bottle, the disc bursts and the N2O evacuates the bottle. The purpose of the blow-down tube is to have it vent OUT of the vehicle. This is a requirement at all NHRA tracks and they do check for it. Not really needed on the street per say but a definite safety point. The disc I believe is rated for 3000 psi's. I have seen these give way when a bottle is in the trunk on a very hot day. Good idea to have the tube.

No i know what it does Gary thanks though. I was wondering if you actually have to drill another hole in the trunk for the tube to go out do you know of any write ups that show the the process.

My mistake Mike, I just thought you wanted blow down tubes explained. Yes, you have to drill another hole. The tube has to be vented outside. I am not sure if there is any other way to vent it to the outside of the car. As far as any write-ups, I couldn't find any. I went to Zex's website and nothing. I know there are guys that have a hole drilled and the tube going outside. Then there are guys that have steel braided line from the bottle to a hole in the trunk secured by a coupling. Hope this helps.

yup ok so you can just run a hose to the down tube got you. I would be running at the track so I need to make sure its correct. Oh yea by the way to the OP i'm going with a zek kit.

3000 PSI is a hell of alot though. I forget the math, but I think around 88 degrees approx. is 1000 psi, so it would have to be really hot in the trunk. Where most people have the bottle mounted, which is on the floor board right behind the fold down seats, you would need braided hose because the blow down tube isnt long enough to go through that floor, and people usually dont want to drill through their trunk right there

Well if you're running a hose I don't think you need the tube. Just get a coupler that secures to the hole wherever the hole is and secure it. Usually you use the tube when the bottle is mounted in a way where it would reach the trunk pan. Check with 1fst4dr,(scott) or hemi31 (erik) flybyu (dan) and they can verify anything you want. Good Luck at the track.

    Hey six,

I agree with you, but these are the words right from the NOS instruction paper that came with the disc:

"All standard nitrous oxide cylinders are eqipped with safety burst discsin the bottle valve assembly. If the bottle pressure is raised to approximately 3000 psig, the safety disc will burst and emptythe contents of the cylinder through the diffuser nozzle cap".

This cap they speak of is in place of the blowdown tube. Irrelevant to the topic though. So six, that is where I got my info. Not sure if there are different "levels" of burst discs though.
