Considering a Zex kit, have Q's

I'm interested in the Zex kit basically for it's ease of install, or so I have read. I hope it is as easy to install as they say it is. My question is how would I go about doing a 2 stage system? Does their window switch have this ability? I'm looking for 75-100 in stage 1 and 150 or so in stage 2. Can this be set up by trans gear? Meaning 75 or 100hp in 2nd gear and 150hp in 3rd. Also, how much timing needs to be pulled for over 100hp and how using the predator? I looked at the tables and there does not seem to be a clear cut way to pull timimg by degrees. Just a bunch of tables. I'm a bit confused.

Is this your first n2o system? If so I would just go with the single stage for now, run a 100 shot for a while and get used to it. From what I have been told and read, you cannot do a 2 stage with the zex. The window switch is just for rpm windows. I think some people who do 2 stages have 2 different brands of n2o in there, one for each stage

It will be my first n2o kit on a fuel injected car. I ran a 250hp kit on a small block chevy motor years ago in a Nova that ran mid 10's. I didn't build it or design the fuel system for it though. I had it done for me by a shop. What kind of et drop should I expect to see with a 100 shot on a stock motored SRT? I have CAI, catback thermostat and custom predator tune. She runs (in cool weather) 12.50's now. In this heat it's more like 12.80's.

You should see about a 1 second difference on your ET.Depending on traction etc.I will agree though.Go with the Zex fiest learn a little more about the N20 on these vehicles. You could always use the Zex as a first stage and a different kit for the second. You will need to pull 4 degrees of timing for a 100 shot and i think 2 degrees for every 25 shot there after. You will also need to change your plugs..And remember this isnt your Nova .Totally different animal now..

I agree with Scott. I gained 1.16 sec on a 100 shot. About the plugs though. What did you change yours too Scott? I put the SRT 8 plugs in mine. As for the timing, that is what I pull: -2 for 75 shot,-4 for 100 shot, -6 for 125 shot. If your still interested in a 2 stage system, check with HEMIDON, he runs a 2 stage on his Go Mango. Zex is the way to go though. Almost plug-n-play. Good Luck.

Thanks fellas. I'll take that advice and stick with a single stage for now. I'm trying desperately to put this thing in the 11's for the Pinks all out event the end of July. Mid to high 12's in the summer heat isn't going to cut it.

If it means anything to I run 11s with a 100 shot and D/Rs.However the weather was pretty damn good and like you said with the summer heat it will be difficult somewhat.Remeber Nitrous cars create there own air.If you have a N/A car and a nitrous making the same power the nitrous car should run a little faster due to the fact that it creates its own air..There have been some nice 11.xx passes here latley so I think with a good n20 tune and a 100 shot you should have no problems see an 11.However Traction is very important. The first 60' of the 1320 will make or break a great 1/4 mile run..

    Hey Gary,

Sure you went with SRT plugs because they are 1 step colder then the 5.7.. I had to go one step colder then the stock SRT plugs..

    Hey Scott,

I am almost positive I went with the SRT plugs. I think they were the 4306's. I'll check when I get home. Which plugs are you running? Keep us posted on your runs with the 150 shot. Good Luck.

Other than the 82177 kit, what else is needed or recommended at time of install? A blow off tube kit is mandatory isn't it? A guage is not included in the kit is it? How well does the micro switch work? Does their tps switch work well for our cars? Sorry for all the Q's but I need to get this done right the first time. Anyone have a video or pics of their install? The wiring worries me the most. I read their instructions and half of it went right over my head.

    HIB,
The gauge is not included in the kit. You'll have to get the separately. However, from what I remember they're fairly inexpensive. I would also get the bottle heater and purge kit. I think there are better bottle heaters than the Zex. Dynotune has one that is nice and is adjustable. Just set the temperature and heater will turn itself on and off to maintain that temperature. You also may be also to use Dynotune's purge kit. They're about half the cost of Zex's.

As far as the plugs, I went one step colder with the NGK Iridiums. Here's a link:http://www.402motoring.com/product.p...hFR855kBGGuos7

Good Luck with the install. 11's should be no problem.

A blow down tube is required by NHRA. There is a gauge that goes inbetween the hose and bottle. I think it is 42 bucks. I would NOT go with the Zex bottle heater. As rob mentioned, DynoTune has one that works awesome. I went with their high output one. It has the built in pressure regulator and works great. The hight oputput one just heats the bottle quicker. Read the instructions a few times and it will all make sense. Good Luck.
