    Booster fuel pump?

I know zex sells a booster in line fuel pump for $170 but I know who makes the pump and I can get it for $125 thro FRI. So the question is do you think a 392 with a 200-250 plate set up needs a booster pump? Its a inline pump wich I like better due to the fact we have the 2 sep pumps in the 2 tanks.

Im trying to make sure I have all the peaces in place, so when Im paying all that $$$$ on the dyno I have my ducks in a row. I have a 392 and Im working on a plate set up, my goal is a 200 to 250 shot, so I want my car tuned for such. My question now is do I need a fuel pump? I looked at addding a in line pump like the chevy guys do, nice and easy and cheap, but relized they have fuel return lines and fuel regulators up front, we dont, its all in the tank.

SO how do I add more fuel pump? I was told that the factory pump lookis nothing like your old school inline/tank pumps but have not seen one my self.

This is the pump I was thinking of getting.

If I add it as a booster pump, would I just add 2 "Y" fittings and tie it into the single inline line that gose to the front of the motor?

    Thanks mike

If your going to spray that much on top of a stroker I would look into a seperate fuel system for the spray.........like was said though.....an MSD boost-a-pump would be a bare minimum.

    2 questions

    1. if I was to buy one of these pumps for just the NOS set up, where would you tap in to the fuel system? and how big of a pump?

    2. I would rather beef up the factory fuel line, that way the 392 and the Nos will both have plenty of fuel pressure.

    Thanks mike

OK, OK for the sake of those that read this, I will let you know the answer that I came up with, buy talking to sever diffrent companys.

Option #1 add a seprate fuel tank, fuel pump and reg for the Nitrous system. No good to much $$$ and I don't want a gas tank in my truck.

Option #2 MSD sells a fuel pump booster (its electrion) it works manly off of boost but can be made to work for Nitrouse - it increasses the voltage to the pump to handle the demand. Not a good I deal to me.

Option #3 Summit sells a mallery fuel regulator, 30-100psi with return line. pluse summit gauge, 25 ft of alummunm line, with bulk head adaptor for factory tank.

2 choses of pumps, I whent with the Bosch 044 wich is the factory fuel pump for the turbo porsche, or the GSI392 wich is a highy recomend pump.

    regulator $99
    gauge $17
    Line $12
    bulk $13
    Fuel pump $180 (ebay) $99
Bosch 044 If you go with GSI392
    $321 total. $240 total

By adding this pump inline I will beable to support well over 750hp

The Kenne Bell 40amp Boost-A-Pump is the BEST Boost-A-Pump on the market for these applications.. and I did my research.

I bought one and then shortly thereafter, I decided to go with a 426 Stroker to go along with my twin screw, which meant I decided on upgrading my actual fuel pump rather than installing a Boost-A-Bump.. so if anybody wants it, PM me.. the Boost-A-Pump is brand spankin' new.

I know you don't want a gas tank in the trunk, but if you made a small one to fit in the spare tire well and put your bottle there, the advantage is you could run racing gas in that side of the system, big advantage. You can run full timing then blast with 112 octane for example.

Well.....I think you are going way overkill on this for what your doing......it's good that you will have more room to play but the BAP is more than your going to need. What you will need is larger injectors for the stroker. After re reading your goal you can go the in the tank and return route but I think it's a bit much.......that would be more in line if you were boosting the motor.A BAP will get you the fuel you need with the proper injectors and if it's still a little light go to a larger fuel line......thats all your going to need. The factory pump is more than enough to supply a 392 even with a 100 shot........so your really not going that huge.

Thanks, I know Im a little hard headed at times.

The 110oct in the tank in the trunk sounds like a better plan now. I want to run the 392 as tuned as possable and still spray the 200 -250 shot with out pulling over and chaning my tune.

So I will bite, what fuel pump is recomened for this application?

I heard you can use a low pressure fuel pump for a carb so not to need a regulator.

FYI.... not even the 700 rwhp cars are running extra fuel tanks, to my knowledge... just replacing the pump and doing a return system.

FYI the 700hp cars are boosted so the extra tank doesn't work. With a nitrous app since you need to spray fuel with the nitrous the extra tank and pump makes sense.

But why make a Rube Goldberg out of it? Redundant fuel tanks, redundant fuel pumps... you're talking lots more weight, probably more money, and gas inside the car, which you then need to secure (unless you want it to take flight and rupture in the event of an accident)... I don't even think you can take the car to a track without a sheetmetal partition between the fuel storage tank and the passenger compartment now that I think of it.

I dunno, were it my car, I wouldn't go for that type of system. But, this is not my car :-)
