    AWD Spray

Hi all, ive been thinking of getting a kit. Are there any things i need to worry about in addition with the AWD drivetrain? How much can i spray? I dont wanna spend a lot and i will install it myself. I have installed a few kits before.. none on an american V8 before.

Can i get away with a 100hp kit?

I have a 5.7 see my sig below for mods...

    thanks all!

Also, what precautions can i take to ensure i have failsafes installed.. i was going to get the A/F cutoff switch and hopefully something to prevent launching at low/idle rpms...

A100 hp shot is very safe, if you follow the rules. First, use 1 heat range copper plugs gapped to .35 . I use NGK 4306's. I put 1 bottle of NOS octane booster per tank, it's the only one to my knowledge that actually raises your octane from 91 to 97octane. If you use this you will be safe with a Predator tune or the Superchip tune. Lastly never hit the juice below 3000 rpms, especially with AWD. No spin puts more stress on the motor than a spinning car. Some guys swear by window switches, I'm happy to just push the fun button. You will need a bottle heater to keep bottle pressure optimum and a blow off tube in case the bottle accidently blows off. You can hide the solenoids under the engine cover for the stealth look and mount the bottle where the spare tire goes. Buy some goop and an electric tire pump, like the SRT 8's have.BTW the tec support at the nitrous kit manufactures is very good if you get in a bind.

I should tell you that all nitrous kits to my knowledge are set up a bit on the rich side. I have sprayed at 2500 but I think that's too low for a AWD. I have also found as air temp goes down, it was 72 degrees at my track Sunday, now I'm having traction problems. Spraying anything below 3500 now puts my TCM into safe mode because of excessive violent wheelspin. Now I've got to get Drag Radials.Your car should run at least as good as mine, I think mine will run 7.9 with better tires in the eighth. Good luck and you will be addicted!

Thanks for the info.. So here is my plan

    1. Get a basic kit.. 10lb bottle. solenoids etc.......
    2. EFI plate
    3. RPM switch set at 3k
    4. A/F switch
    5. I have seen an ashtray switch kit floating around the board somewhere
    6. remote bottle opener
    7. bottle heater
    8. purge kit (scratched)
    9. emergency release valve
    10. SRT 8 plugs?
    11. fuel rail adapter

    am i missing something?

how much does it cost to get a 10lb bottle filled?

it depends on where you are, but around here it is about 4-5 bucks a pound. Most kits like the zex come with a fuel rail adapter and everything else you will need. If you are just starting out I recommend that one, even though nitrous outlet and dynotune are nice.

Zex kit is very LX friendly.
If you search you can find few threads on that.
    You can start here :
Nitrous Installation Pictures - Post them here .

It's about $4.50 per lb to fill the bottle. In our parts (I'm about 10 min away from you) I heard that they will ask you about a license for handling nitrous otherwise they won't fill it.

Place i went to never said anything so......
RIP nhDave - Never forgotten, my friend

If you make a cover for the little bin to the right of the shifter, you can mount switches to open the bottle, and arming switch and possibly the bottle heater switch. I have the fun button there. Another good location for switches would be to make a cover for the little bin over the ash tray. Billet Tech may have them. Purge kit is not required, it's for psyching out the guy in the other lane. Let us know how you did at the track!
