superchargers...sms, techno, whipple, etc

so the mentioned superchargers (whipple, techno, sms) or other twin screw applications.

sms and techno are the exact same correct? just branded differently?

and whipple is the new rdp one right?

i read somewhere that the whipple was a 1.xxL supercharger, then i read on jected thing and it is a 3.xxL something( i think) supercharger. do they offer in different sizes?

and the sms is 2.9L right?

what are the major differences between the whipple and the sms/techno?

Whipple is not RDP, it is PPP. Jected's is not the production version... he has an abnormally large unit (he wishes :-P). The kit does include a 2.4L blower, not his 3.xL.

Don't forget Harrop, the "Bullet" supercharger.

Unless I missed something, Whipple is not PPP either, unless PPP bought them. PPP carries the Whipple brand, but thats about it.

RDP's new one is closely related to the Harrop/Bullet design.

Techco makes the superchargers for SMS, so they are the same, just different names stamped on them if Im not mistaken.

Whipple makes the blower itself, PPP put together the kit (manifold, tensioner, belt, blah blah blah) so you cannot buy it from whipple, you must go through PPP (unless you wanna fab up all that other stuff yourself, in which case you would have had a blower 3 years ago).

I believe that the Bullet/Harrop piece is the only one of the roots/screw types that is actually currently available. Don't get me wrong, I'm sporting wood for the others too, but if you want to pick up the phone and get one on the way *cough* hemipowered5700*cough* then there is really only one choice at this time.

As to Jected's abnormally large unit......................

We will have actual 3's for you all late next week. We are in our final durablity/testing/calibration work. units will be shipping right after sema.

Yep, PPP does also deal SMS.

What they mean is Techco builds the units- cast the housing, machine the impellers, and assemble. They then sell them in bulk (relatively speaking) to SMS, who slaps their sticker on them, marks them up, and resells them to you. In a way, you could consider it part of their family history :-P But bottom line, whether you buy a Techco or an SMS, they're both the exact same thing.

All the kits mentioned will make great power, but there is not a one size fits all option, everyone likes/needs somethign different. Is the car a daily driver, or just a cruiser, or a serious strip car. Is the motor staying stock, or do you intend to forge it or go stroker? What other mods do you have or plan on doing? Or just have BT make something really nice for the front and make it YOUR own.

Bud... its TECHCO.... not Techno..... lol. Thats why he asked where are the strobe lights and disco balls. Hahahaha.

Either way, I would love to look into a Techco blower.... anyone interested in a Vortech for sale?
